This is gonna be part of my thesis and I think this site will help.
I do not believe video games make you violent. Although there has been some shooting incidents and the shooters have played violent video games they clearly have no good morals when they were raised. A study has shown an increase in difficulty heightens the violence and rage of the player regardless of content.

More precisely, perhaps, the graphic depictions excite the innate predisposition to solve problems with violence.

The outcome of the person's behavior varies depending on his background and other factors. There has not been any reported case of a person killing someone due to only video games by itself. There was an incident involving a young boy shooting his parents after they confiscated his Halo 3 game but that is video game addiction.

Recently a 3 year-old was created a scene in a check-out line, the reason being that his mother refused to purchase a toy gun for him. Having unsuccessfully tried to introduce a youngster to the joys of video-games I can attest that 3 year-olds do not play them; the desire for a gun then being introduced prior to video-games or a genetic predisposition.

Research presents an ambiguous front on whether video-games aggravate violent tendencies, but if 3 year-old boys desire toy weapons prior to exposure to video-games, then video-games at least cater to the pleasure of playing with guns and by association the justice of settling disputes with gun ownership.

Video-games therefore promote violence by playing a part in the justice of settling disputes with gun ownership.

How can video games promote violence when violence is already programmed in our brains. Humans have been killing each others before the invention of video games. So how could it be possible that video games make us violent if we are already violent?

I concede the point. The pleasure experienced is undeniable and if the outlet to our condition placates the urge then video-games rank above sports in my opinion in their role as a safety valve for our frustrations.

It depends on the person.

That difficult activities increase violence and rage seems to be a counter argument (that is, just because some trait is not unique to 'x' does not mean 'x' does not have the trait, etc.). On an unrelated note, you should clarify whether you wish to discuss long-term or short-term effects. Good luck :)
