I believe that Microsoft is a lot better than Apple because it has nicer looking software, has more frequent anti-virus software updates and can be be pulled apart and have hardware upgrades with ease.

Apple applications work faster and more efficient. Apple computers are easier to access and more organized. They are also easier when it comes to installing/downloading software and less likely to lag. There is also a spotlight search that scans the entire computer and finds what you are looking for. You can also go the Launchpad simply by spreading your fingers out on the touchpad and it will show you all the applications that you have on your mac.
Secondly, Apple"s OS is also more secure. Windows can run exe files that may contain viruses and Trojans. It is very easy to turn a virus into a exe file while Apple"s os uses their own unique language in their computers so it is more difficult to program the virus.
Next, is the store security. Windows store has a very poor selection of apps and It was littered with scams and copycat products, seemingly innocuous apps were found to harbor malware, and the list of requested permissions was often out of control. While apple"s app store, on the computer and phone, is much safer as the apps are tested and scanned before being approved into the app store. Unreasonable sizes in the app"s catagory will be further tested and scanned for malware. And on the windows store there are hundreds of fakes of official applications and programs, while on the app store you won't be able to find any (seriously! Go on the windows store and type VLC, and see how many results come up. There should only be one official one [note: this may depend on which version you have of store).

I would really love some citations on "Apple applications work faster and more efficient." and "less likely to lag".
Yes, windows can use gestures as well.
"Secondly, Apple"s OS is also more secure. Windows can run exe files that may contain viruses and Trojans. It is very easy to turn a virus into a exe file while Apple"s os uses their own unique language in their computers so it is more difficult to program the virus."
This is just flat wrong in so many ways.

First, an exe file is simply an executable file that contains compiled code. Mac has these too. Any program you use on either a mac or a PC is an executable. They're just don't end in the .exe file extension on mac.
As far as Apple's unique language, i guess you could be talking about swift, but macs can run programs written in pretty much any language. As far as more difficulty of writing malevolent software, there are several examples of malware infecting the majority of the OSX installations on the planet, such as OSXLeap.A, OSX/Inqtana.A, Flashback, the list goes on. Not to mention, OSX is not based on apple's own codebase. It uses a modified BSD kernel.

Now, that being said, the debate topic wasn't "Do you like mac better than Windows", it was does Microsoft have better software and hardware customization than mac?
As far as hardware customization, that's easy. Of course. There's effectively no such thing as customizing mac hardware. This is true for some PC manufacturers as well, but not common (HP, i'm looking at you).

Software customization is debatable. It's not that mac's OS isn't configurable, it's just that it's much more difficult to do so. For instance, have you ever tried to have time machine do a one-time full back up of your mac? Probably not. I've done it once. I ended up having to copy/pasta a shell script from a website to get it working. With the shittiest of windows backup software, it would have taken approx 1-2 to initiate it.
