I think the army should be paid more because they are keeping the country safe and keeping people alive and risking the their lives for others.....

I believe that members of the military should not be paid at all, but provided for. If soldiers received better pay than the average starting job, then what percentage of the military would be people who have no courage, no patriotism, and no real desire to defend this country with their lives? When there are no perks for doing something unpleasant, then you know that the people who still elect to do it are doing so because they are committed. Take for example, Christians who go out and do volunteer work for the poor and people in need. Why do they do such work? For spiritual enlightenment. So they are doing unpleasant, but honorable, work for a clear reward. Atheists, however, who go out and do volunteer work for the poor and people in need expect no reward, that's the very nature of volunteer work. This is why I believe that soldiers should not be paid, but instead provided with a suitable house, clothes, food, and a little money for recreation. If soldiers were paid as well as good soldiers deserve, then all of the bad soldiers would flood into the military to reap the sacrifices of their good counterparts. And if the military was full of cowards, how would we be able to win wars and defend our country? I personally would feel much better having fewer pieces on the chess board knowing that each one can do its fair share in winning the game as opposed to a lot of pieces only to find out some of them fall apart when I try to move them.

well it all depends on where you are from and what regiment you go in and what trade you would like to do for me the Royal electrical mechanical engineers only earn up to 39000 a year and that's not enough because if a tank or any other vehicle breaks down then we have to go out and fix them in open fire and we get to fire back but not with the power we ask for and I'm a atheist so and i think they should earn more......

Yeah, this resolution does need to be thought out better. Starting active duty soldiers make like 18k, and higher officers get up to 50k or 70k. Plus you have to take benefits into account and the fact that while on active duty, they don't have to pay for housing and food.

The more they get paid the bigger risk you will be putting them in, the higher wages they get the less troops the government can support and before you know it the government will have to start cutting down the budget to save money or make a false statement to the world stating that their budget remains large but instead are just raising the wages of their troops.

39k a year is a great considering they have free life and health insurance and either free or re-imbursed housing.

isn't this a very broad topic? Officers are already payed more than 39k, even most enlisted soldiers are payed more than 39k... It depends on a lot of things like what your job is within the army.
