Some people believe that God is a myth. However, the Bible clearly states that there is a God and that there are people who have seen sufficient evidence. There have been cases of miracles, which supports the fact that God is real even more. The most specific picture of God reveling himself to us is Jesus Christ.

The majority of people in the world have some sort of belief in a God. He answers our prayers and controls our destiny. Have you ever heard the saying, "Everything happens for a reason"? Well, that's because God has a plan for everyone.

If God isn't real, then who created the earth?
If God isn't real, then why do billions of people have faith?

God does not exist and I am here to explain why. My opponent asks a few questions:

1) if there is no god, who created the earth? This question is misleading as no one created the earth! I will explain more in the second round.

2) if he does not exist, why do so many people believe in him? Simply put, this is the logical fallacy known as, "Argument from popularity." Because people believe in X, X is true...this is fallacious thinking.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST GOD.

First, we need to establish who god is. I will be offering this definition:

God: exactly one being who is:
•omnipotent (all-powerful),
•omniscient (all-knowing),
•omnibenevolent (all-good),
•transcendent (outside of space and time),
•omnipresent (present everywhere),
•who created the world, and
•who rules the world (that is, the being interacts with the world by desiring to have the people in it behave in certain ways or believe certain things--this is to distinguish this view from deism, for example, which would be the same as theism except for the omission of the last characteristic on this list).

Contradictory properties Argument.
1. Any being with contradictory properties cannot exist.
2. God is a being with contradictory properties.
3. Therefore, god cannot exist.

According to the popular understanding of God, God is omnipotent and omniscient. That means he is all-knowing and all-powerful. However, this begs a question: "Can god change the future?" if you say, "Yes", then he is not all knowing, if you say "No", then he is not all-powerful.

Another popular attribute is that he is both just and merciful. However, you cannot be both. (I'll elaborate later).

Pertaining to how my opponent said no one created the earth:
The Bible distinctly states that God created the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1:1

Also, my opponent said that so many people believe in him because of "Argument of popularity."
This is not entirely true for the main reason people believe in God is because of historic records that reinforce His existence. It is of historical record that Jesus Christ did in fact exist, therefore, since Jesus and God are the same person, history then proves that there is indeed a God.

God is omniscient. He knows what is going to happen before it actually happens, but because he has given mankind free will, he does not intervene and alter the future.

My opponent fails to respond to almost anything I have stated.

"The Bible distinctly states that God created the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1:1"

Why should I care about what the bible says? What is the difference between what Genesis and all the other creation myths?

"Jesus Christ did, in fact, exist."

Okay, I fail to see your point. Just because he existed does not mean he is god. In fact, Jesus' existence IS debatable. What is the difference between Jesus and the other god-men?

My opponent states that he has given mankind freewill and dies not intervene. This makes no sense given the times God, supposedly, intervened on the behalf of the Israelites. In addition, it fails to answer e question.

God knows X is boong to happen. He cannot stop X from happening.

kohai is making more of a valid point than xxBabyKatie con is stating valid points, all pro is doing saying stuff as the bible, which has no scientific value. ive seen religious people prove valid points from some reliable sources. Con could easily have made a debate in which he/she does a debate about which religion is the true one, then both sides would be in a standstill as both are citing from their religious group because you wouldnt have any evidence the others religion is false or wrong.

There is proof that god exists, in the bible it talks about the city of gays and God destroyed the city of gays.. well scientists can actually go back and prove where the city of gays was, in fact it is of today a desert and if you read it in the bible it talks about how it turned to dust and any of the people who looked back on it turned to dust as well.

You can't convince somebody who's "determined" not to believe god exists with words. The only people that will come to know god are people willing to accept god. Debating that god does not exsist is to be "determined" to not know god.

I mean, this is a popular debate since beginning of time.
People wonders, "why am i here, what's my purpose in life, who created all this?" And starts to question things in life.
People who's for God, wants people to know the truth (if it is the truth - of God's existence) because there are people living other there ignorantly of his existence.
People who's against God, sticks to hard facts and science, and doesn't want to put faith in something that's "imaginary".

But i think it's beyond just "free expression". I think if God is real, it's necessary for them to convince others otherwise.
Just like if eating ants give you immortality, no matter how good immortality sounds, because it fails to cross the others' mind of "reality" and "evidence", they choose to not believe it.

seriously, who even cares if there's a thing that you would call "god?" Not me, that's who.

Does God exsist? Yawn. If he doesn't, why do you care? If he does ,god be with you. Both sides have equal rights at using their value system to influence public policy. Freedom of expression. Both sides think the other side is delusional. Neither can prove ether's position. Put your ideas of public policy forward to voters. If your policy looses, you have been given a fair chance to win.

Reasons for voting decision: Con made the definition of "god" for this debate extremely hard for pro to debate. "God" and "faith" are what ever the hell you want it to be (terrible pun). Con only made attempts to prove that the God described in the Jewish and Christian bible does not exist. Everyone can have their own personal views of a god(s), I can say that I am the god of my own religion. People's faiths are not limited to organized modern religion. Kohai seems to be ignorant about this is most of his debates.

Reasons for voting decision: xxBabyKatie made several appeals to: tradition/authority (the Bible), popularity ("If God isn't real, then why do billions of people have faith?") and failed to either back up her claims of the existence of god and respond to kohai's arguments... Plus, as the instigator of the debate, she has the burden of proof to prove that God exists, which she does not...
