Does God exist?

Definition of God: The greatest possible being

My arguments:
1)The origin of the universe
2)Objective moral values

Rd1)Accept only
TheDiabolicDebater

Con

Pro's definition of God is a little odd. According to him it comes from Anselm of Canterbury but he has not provided a source and Anselm himself died a little over 900 years ago. Thus, I prove this definition instead:

God - the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe. [http://www.merriam-webster.com...]

I think we can both agree that this is a fair definition and does not unfairly skew the ground of either debater.

With that cleared up, I accept.

CON clearly accepted my definition he cant make changes now...........We can make this debate a draw but I am not willing to change what CON accpeted before reading to suit CON

Con

I did not accept the definition. If you read my last round you will notice that I clearly rejected it. It is not logical to use such an obscure definition, especially if it doesn't even have a valid source behind it.

Furthermore, the definition I have provided does not suit me any better than it does you. It is a fairly common definition that is generally accepted by both theists and non-theists alike. How does the new definition benefit me unfairly? More importantly, how is your original definition fair for me?

It is not uncommon to argue over definitions in a debate, but it's preferable that each party provide reasons why a definition is or is not suitable for the debate. I have done this and Pro has not.

If this issue isn't resolved then the only logical thing to do is vote Con because Pro is actively refusing to meet his own Burden of Proof. The resolution isn't being affirmed so I win by default.

If you're not going to debate at all, can't you just hurry up and forfeit?

Exactly. I really don't see how my definition gives me an unfair advantage.

Con's definition really isn't biased, Pro, it simply provides for a more in-depth definition. At least, tht's how I see it

It's not a good definition from the religious sense. From the religious sense, I'm athiest, and I could believe in God because I consider myself the greatest possible being :)
