I believe that music influences our youth and even adults negativaly. I often hear people say that they got these ideas off of a music video or song. With recent songs like CoCo by O.T. Genesis, this could possibly start a bad movement for our youth.

Con

Introduction & Premises:
I as Con will be arguing music does not affect people in negative ways. My opponent must show a direct cause that music affects people in negative ways.I only need to refute the resolution. First, my opponent must explain to us by what he means by "negative."

ARGUMENTS:
#1. The Music does not affect people, it is individual persons that have "negative" ideas.

Many people will associate hip hop music with violence. Yet there is no evidence that majority of people listening to hip hop engage in any sort of violence. Majority of people that listen to hip hop music don't go out and shoot people or beat people. The music does not influence majority of people to engage in violence. If it did we would see more violence from the majority of hip hop listeners which we don't see.

It can, but isn't really the exact same.

It really depends on the song and the person. I've listened to music that has inspired me (in a good way).

Reasons for voting decision: Anecdotes and 'could happen[s]" don't count as arguments, as Con effectively argued. Pro needed to show why the resolution was affirmed, and this never eventuated. Conduct to Con for Pro's round forfeits.
