Online roleplaying can actually help people focus on other tasks during their day, i say this because it acts as an outlet for your imaningination an helps channel it into somthing more productive then day dreaming, thus helping people focus rather then daydreaming in boring situations

I thank my opponent for this debate.

I negate the resolution that, '[Online roleplaying helps] people focus on other tasks.]'

Definitions: Roleplay- To assume or act out a particular role (thefreedictionary).

First, I shall build my own case.

  1. Online roleplaying distracts you from other tasks (http://www.familyresource.com...). This article refers to the negative effects of roleplaying in the form of video games. The resolution does not specify the type of roleplaying, so this argument against video games is pertinent. This form of roleplaying makes it hard for people to prioritize in that they put video games/roleplaying first.
  2. While my first point makes it very clear that roleplaying does distract you from other tasks when in the form of video games, as pertaining to literary roleplaying, I must provide evidence as well. It seems quite self-evident that people who roleplay are creative people, as roleplaying allows you to create yourself as a person. It is shown that people who are easily distracted are creative, and that creative people are more easily distracted (http://www.newscientist.com...). Seeing as roleplayers are creative people, and creative people are distracted, my second point prevails.

I thank my opponent for this debate and await his/her response.
