Does atheism from a strong stance make sense? What are the reason's for belief in nothing. How can one believe in no belief?

Thank you, Con.

I'll abide by my opponent's proposed standards and use this round only to introduce relevant definitions and an introduction to my reasoning.

Atheism is a disbelief in a deity (God/s) or spiritual beings [1]. Con suggests that atheists believe in "nothing;" however, rejecting a belief in a deity or the super-natural is not the same as rejecting "everything." I contend that atheism makes sense, insofar as the position does not offer an explanation of the universe but rather rejects an explanation that lacks empirical evidence.

That said, I'll turn the debate back over to my opponent for his opening arguments.
