Hello, thank you for accepting my Debate, and may we have an enjoyable debate.

While many people say that Violence come from video games, is it really the video games that cause all this to happen? Millions of Adults and Children play games every single day. Why isn't the world in chaos and destruction by now? It is true that youth crime makers have been reported of playing Video Games, but it is not scientifically proven that it encourages children to commit crimes. It is more likely that they originally had a mental illness before.

I am accepting this under the resolution stated.

From what I can make out the resolution is

"Do video games cause violence"

This is not saying they are the primary source of violence or if we stopped making video games violence would cease.

We are debating if video games can actually cause violence

I accept with that in mind.

We are looking at the resolution

" Does video games actually inflict on youth violence"'

This is a flawed resolution and judging by pros initial round he meant to say

"Do video games play a cause in youth violence"

We are not debating that video games are the only cause, or a major cause of youth violence but whether or not they can actually effect it.

The truth is there are studies that show there is a strong correlation between youth violence and youth that have been exposed to violence in video games. Once children see blood and gore , they become null to it and studies show that those children tend to have more violent tendencies[1]

Conclusion

So in fact video games can play a role in youth violence and possibly be the cause of violence in certain situations. So cons resolution is false. Video games can in fact cause violence among youth.

I did aco- op in a school where a little boy flat out admit to me that the reason he was hurting the other students was that it was because there were fighting and it was done in his video game. He said he didn't know that you were not supposed to do it.

I guess his parents were letting him play REAL violent video games and not explaining to him that what you see on tv or in video games you are NOT supposed to do to others like all parents in my opinion should.

True, I guess. It was the only study I saw on the topic, not meant to be an official statement of any kind.

There have been studies that say that video games increase violent tendencies, some say that that they have no effect on violence, and some say they lower violence. Many studies are also biased on the matter and won't give accurate results.

I think you mean "effect", not "inflict".

There have been studies, where, it has been found that video game players (even violent ones) were LESS LIKELY to commit a crime than non players.

"Do video games" not "does"

Reasons for voting decision: I still agree with Con, because it is not the video game itself but the childlike decisions of the users that cause violence. But Con forfeited. Good job pro.
