Domestic violence is a human problem, not a gender problem. Randomized sociological survey data consistently shows men account for at least half of domestic violence victims (in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships), as well as one-third of victims who are physically injured, one-fourth of victims who call police and one-tenth of victims who seek shelter services (even with virtually no outreach or referrals). Male victims report it less than women, making oft-cited crime data misleading and unreliable.

Children are emotionally damaged by witnessing the violence regardless of injuries or gender. The violence becomes a model and creates an inter-generational cycle that cannot be broken by covering up half (or any amount) of it for ideological reasons. By ignoring female violence, society is fostering rather than preventing domestic violence.

This is why men and children need a place to go in the time of need.

As is the norm, I'm just using this round for acceptance. I wish my opponent good luck on his opening arguments

Domestic violence is a widespread problem in the United States, endangering the safety of victims and weakening families. This is the profile of domestic violence:
Men and women are equally likely to initiate and engage in partner aggression. In about half of all cases, the aggression is mutual, meaning that there is no clear-cut initiator of the altercation.
Although women are more likely to be harmed, males represent 38% of those who suffer an injury from partner aggression. For many years, advocates have pushed for the strengthening of arrest laws and policies as a deterrent to domestic violence. But these persons have had to over-come a number of legal objections. In both the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, the government is commanded to not deprive any person of liberty without due process of law. Arresting a person for allegedly committing domestic violence has a profound impact on personal liberty men who are arrested for domes-tic violence are detained an average of nine days. Arrest has serious legal and social effects as well.
For that reason, police officers traditionally were not allowed to make an arrest for a misdemeanor most instances of domestic violence are legally classified as misdemeanors unless the officer actually witnessed the event or had an arrest warrant from a judge. That policy, the hallmark of a civil and just society, served to protect law-abiding citizens from arbitrary and unfair arrest. But over the past two decades, states have enacted domestic violence laws that increasingly departed from these time-honored protections. This Special Report documents how arrest policies driven by the Violence against Women Act violate fundamental notions of due process and equal protection under the law.

Not only has my opponent not made an argument relevant to the topic but he has also plagiarized his argument.

I urge people to disqualify his arguments and award me all 7 points.

in 2007 I have received permission to publish this research my books on domestic violence and all the statements I have posted came out of my books.

Your points aren't even relevant to the resolution. I've read both documents this was plagiarized from and am convinced that those people would be smart enough to make a case relevant to the resolution that would be extremely challenging to me.

Plagiarism is frowned upon here and I urge voters to give me all 7 points.

This is not my opponent's work and even if it were, as a person who writes up studies he'd be well aware that self plagiarism or not citing your own works is still bad.

The website credits nobody name John Hayes for this work. The study wasn't conducted by anybody named John Hayes and I hope to God you didn't actually publish a book because copy and pasting a bunch of articles and studies together is illegal, especially when no citations are used.

A published author taking his wife's last name is

A. A bad ideal

B. Not very manly

I was interested in debating you on this but not anymore. What you did was wrong. It's wrong to steal other people's work and take credit.

The article that was copy and pasted, isn't even relevant to the resolution. I need zero research skills or debate skill to show that no argument was made, which was relevant to the resolution.

I hope you do debate again and, I hope you take the time to fully digest what you're arguing so you don't have to resort to plagiarism.

Good luck in any future debates.

As for this debate I am going to conclude that as the writer of my boo it wasn't fair that I should debate my own facts that I have discovered thru other sources and many conversation with those sources, So i will conclude that there needs to be domestic violence shelters for men and their children in the time of need. In which I will be proceeding in the venture in trying to make a difference in society as I intended to do by researching the subject.

society needs it.

thank you

PS as far as the points I wasn't doing his for the points I was doing it for the positive responses that I received.

It's okay to debate stats or use quotes from other websites. What my opponent did was directly copy and paste somebody else's work. He also didn't even copy and paste work, even relevant to the resolution. Don't reword cheating . Give me all 7 points.

it was posted from radar which is an excellent site many authors have gotten information to include in their book including the one that wrote your college books, and grade school books ect, ect, ect. If you would download a free copy of my book you would be able to tell all info is sighted, and credit is given where it is due, I do thank you for the publicity though.

Why are you referring to yourself in 3rd person?

I don't even care if you wrote a book on this. That website which was copy and pasted wasn't written by a John Hayes, self plagiarism is still wrong and the arguments weren't relevant to the resolution.
