Throughout modern history, the worlds of politics and entertainment have intertwined. From John F. Kennedy's flirtations with Marilyn Monroe to Arnold Swartzangger's run as Governor of California, politics have always courted Hollywood and it's not hard to see why. We already have precedent with Ronald Reagan and it should be noted there is no suggestion that The Rock simply stand for office unexperienced, a senate seat for example would certainly have to come first.

Hollywood, and indeed television, stars already have that instant name recognition that any other citizen doesn't, even if an individual has sat in the senate for twenty years and is a prime candidate for the White House.. the press machine has it's work cut out to get what they are and what they stand for over with the public, it's an exercise in branding. Not so with an established star, the public already know exactly who they are and, in their own minds if nothing else, believe they know that person and what they're about.

Like Will Smith, who is also often spoken about as a potential future Hollywood President, Dwayne Johnson is instantly likable. He has a natural charisma that can win over even the most cynical of people, if you put this man in the front of an audience he will capture them and hold them enthralled. Prior to his acting career (and also sporadically recently) Johnson was a professional wrestler (Abe Lincoln was a stand-out wrestler in his time before that is used as a downside to his character) and is used to both improvisation and live crowds, he is known for his verbal skills.

During the Nixon/Kennedy debate, those watching on TV stated they believed JFK won, yet those listening on the radio stated Nixon won. Why? because JFK's mannerisms, manner and appearance could only be seen on TV, Nixon had appeared nervous and sweaty and even though his arguments were winning, his appearance lost him the debate. You cannot put enough emphasis on appearance and Johnson has this in abundance - he looks good in a sharp suit, he has the Hollywood smile, he is good looking and he is fit, he would have the edge in looking the part over any opponent.

Now any critic may argue that Johnson's WWE background is detrimental as it was to Linda McMahon in her campaign for Connecticut. This is a fair point but given the money that is behind both parties campaigns, not one that could not be combatted. Johnson was never involved in most of the more outrageous skits for the company during their "Attitude era" and certainly didn't sanction them.

Johnson has mass appeal and has a story that can easily be promoted as the American Dream, he is not of the political establishment, not elitist or aloof, he is truly a man of the people in a time when the masses have had enough of Capital Hill and Wall Street's machinations, the Peoples President.

By saying this your simply stating that anyone with the charisma that Dwayne Johnson has is suitable for a political office. First thing you need to know is that Dwayne Johnson is an entertainer. Yes, a president who the people admire is something we need, but what makes you think Dwayne Johnson can make the same political decsions as Abe Lincoln, or JFK. The president needs to be calm, and rash. He needs to make decsions not just for the government but the whole United States. Many presidents had charisma in fact most did, but were they all succesful. Richard Nixon himself actually did good things during his presidency of course his impeachment overshadows it. George Washington was a man of honesty, for that the people loved him. Just charisma is not enough to be a succesful president. You need to be witty and honorable. All of the most loved presidents were also capable of making rash descions. Dwayne Johnson will need much more than charisma to become the president we need.
