Debate: Accepted

Hello, headphonegut. You may start.
Debate Round No. 1
headphonegut

Pro

Thank you for accepting this debate

Definitions:
1.) Debate -
To consider something; deliberate.
To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.
To engage in a formal discussion or argument.

2.) Worthwhile -
To be enjoyable
To be Sufficiently valuable or important
To be worth one's time, effort, or interest.
Talent -
Natural aptitude or skill

All of these definitions should be considered synonymous they are not debatable the implications that they have in arguments are.

Opening arguments:
C1 - a debate consists of two people with opposing views or opinions and an audience of viewers, or even somebody going against an audience, or multiple people in a public arena. Those that debate well can articulate their points and maybe persuade the audience to either change their minds about a topic or reinforce their ideals/values. For example a Presidential debate is very important if you cannot debate well it is not likely that you will be commander and chief.

C2 - in medicine they have things called morbid and moratality conferences/meeting usually to discuss avoidable outcomes and poor decisions. Doctors present cases that other doctors give their opinions on give feedback and alternatives the doctor that presented the case of course defends his decision they essentially have a debate. After the meeting of course doctors that attended might reconsider their decision to a better one or one that agrees withthe symptoms.

C3 - A debate can create new ideas and lead to agreements between people with opposing views.

Excellent work.

Debating is not a talent because anyone can do it. If you are very good at it, it wouldn't be worthwhile because it's so unnessessary. It shouldn't matter how you can prove your opinion to be better or correct over another's, but how you can win they themselves. When two people are done debating, they still think they're right.

Sorry for this horrible round on my part, I had 8 minutes to enter this round, because of an unexpected absence. Thank You.
Debate Round No. 2

So my opponent has made an assertion several actuallly

"Debating is not a talent because anyone can do it. If you are very good at it, it wouldn't be worthwhile because it's so unnessessary. It shouldn't matter how you can prove your opinion to be better or correct over another's, but how you can win they themselves. When two people are done debating, they still think they're right."

First my opponent says debating is not a talent because anyone can do it however debating requires critical thinking and the ability to make coherent arguments and in most cases the ability to speak in public and you must be able to speak in public clearly and coherently thenumber 1 fear of all people is to speak in public drowning coming in at a close second. So it is a talent to debate.

Second if you are good at something why wouldn't you want to continue doing that activity to be better at to be great at it. Furthermore It is necessary many people watch debates and vote in some way or come up with new ideas or reinforce their own ideals. Debating isn't for the benefit of the debaters it's for this that are watching .

Third you have not presented a case merely an objection if it can so be called that

No one wins and argument. Both the Con and Pro refuse to take their "enemy"s side. There are though, a few people who swallow their pride. There is no point in debating, only to take opposition to a further level.

It seems as if my opponent has not made an actual argument

"No one wins and argument. Both the Con and Pro refuse to take their "enemy"s side. There are though, a few people who swallow their pride. There is no point in debating, only to take opposition to a further level."

First saying no one wins an argument on a debating site
With records of wins and loses is never a good idea and it isn't about convincing the person you're debating that you're ideas are superior it's convincing everyone who's watching that your ideas are better.
Second my opponent has dropped all of my arguments and has continually failed to refute my arguments and defend his all seven points to me

Con

Listen to yourself. You actually care who's going to win.

You are proving me right: You don't care about being open-minded and noticing flaws, or thinking you might be wrong for a change. You're just trying to win this debate, seeking points from other viewers/voters.

You also make it seem like the world to you, trying to find others mistakes (in which are obvious) and mention/make notice of them.

Congratulations, you now have skills and "talent" towards condemning people, and salvaging your dignity among childish arguments.

Thank You for this lesson. This will be the last time I debate.

I am going to rank Con at 500, this effect how much of a bump headphonegut gets. Note in the long run decisions like this will not matter at all, just trying to make the process transparent.

Debate like science refers to the activity itself and the skill set. The resolution would therefore be concerning the verb aspect "to debate" and if this was a worthwhile talent to develop. That would be how I would argue it anyway.

Hey you should ask Matt I don't write the resolution I just debate them and you still owe me a border fence debate

"Debate" is an activity, not a talent. So is the resolution, "Debate is a worthwhile activity."? Or may the it's, "Developing debate skills is worthwhile." But either of those have anything contingent on ELO tournaments, so maybe the resolution is something else entirely.

Reasons for voting decision: Complete slaughter by Pro, Con's short rebuttals destroy any impact they had hoped to have. Also the fact they even did the debate made them lose any impact in the first place.
