Pro

I have to disappoint Con,but my arguments will not be about the observable universe, but the whole universe.

Ok,so let's begin

We all know that the universe is huge and that it is expanding. So the question is asked, where is the center of the universe?

And no matter where you are in the universe,in the two different time references, everything will appear to move away from you at the same rate. Take a look at this example at http://www.exploratorium.edu...
v
Top layer represents 5% expansion. If you were to line up the blue and red dot,it would appear as the center of the expansion (you can drag the layer). You can do that with any other dot,and it will become the center of the expansion, the center of the universe.

So basically, the center of the universe is...everywhere.

Let's apply that to earth. Since the same can be done with earth, then it is the center of the universe.

Earth is scientifically center of the universe. And even you are the center of the universe,we all are.

I hope this made you all feel special. Vote Pro.

I would like to thank Vsauce for inspiring me to make this debate https://www.youtube.com...

Con

Thank you pro for this lovely debate.

My opponent has stated that since every area has equal claim to being the center of the universe, everywhere is the center of the universe.

This is false, as your argument proves that the center is a different and singular spot that depends entirely on the reference point. This means that the center of the universe is anywhere, not everywhere.

The earth is A center of the universe, not THE center. You have made an objective statement, but you've only provided evidence for an extremely relative assertion.

As such, the statement "Earth is the center of the universe" is not misleading but plainly false, and as such I strongly urge you to vote con.

@scapegoat I would argue you, but seeing how that could be keen to Con's argument I leave it to the end of the debate

@creedhunt:
Okay, with that out of the way, this should not be too hard.
You have one turn for an argument and the advantage of being able to refute his. Now, you've got a fair chance and can leave this to the audience. Just give it your best shot!

Reasons for voting decision: So Con was right, Pro made a really relative statement as an objective.. but I think Pro was original enough to deserve a point on the board, so Pro gets a "conduct point" for being creative.

Reasons for voting decision: The earth is the center of the universe for people, as they can never be any where else, but that is irrelevant to the debate. Pro contended that the center of the universe can be anywhere, which is relativism. You can not use relative arguments to prove absolutes.
