While production overall has increased, oil and natural gas production on federal lands has dropped in recent years because of burdensome government regulations. Americans should support increasing access to America"s tremendous supply of oil and natural gas in order to create jobs and get the American economy moving again (1). All-of the-above energy approach includes the development of alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, hydropower, nuclear, geothermal and biomass, along with clean coal and American-made oil and natural gas, and this plan will help protect the environment and improve our economic and natural security (2). Oil, gas and coal are all good sources of energy. Renewable enegry, oil, and natural gas will help our economy and protect the environment.
Although it can be costly to do extensive research and development, it is more beneficial creating alternative and renewable ways to produce energy rather than increasing the production of fossil fuels. Advanced biofuels are liquid fuels made from organic materials and waste. The advantages biofuels offer over fossil fuels include zero to very low greenhouse gas emissions and an unlimited potential supply of energy. Bio-chemicals present the opportunity to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels used in creating products such as plastics, cosmetics and lubricants (Goldman Sachs). Another advantage about renewable energies is that they can be replaced and used continuously without becoming depleted. Unlike fossil fuels which are perishable once used, renewable energies are easily regenerated (Renewable).
All estimates of America's oil and natural gas reserves indicate an incredible bounty for the use of many generations to come. We should be pursuing our oil and gas resources both on and offshore. It is nonsensical to spurn real job creation by putting almost all of our coastal waters off limits to energy exploration, while urging other nations to explore their coasts (1). Republicans are committed to meeting the challenge of long-term global climate change by relying on markets and new technologies to improve energy efficiency. These efforts will help reduce emissions over time while allowing the economy to grow. Our President and our Party strongly oppose the Kyoto Protocol and similar mandatory carbon emissions controls that harm economic growth and destroy American jobs (1).
