"Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus."
Well, this is obvious. It should be called esophageal because it affects the esophagus. Calling it throat cancer would be to specific, as esophageal cancer can occur in the throat, but it can also occur anywhere else along the esophagus. Seeing as the esophagus is the only reference point available for this cancer, the name "esophageal" makes perfect sense.

Most patients know what the esophagus is, so they would be able to recognize that the esophageal cancer is in the esophagus. That was the conclusion that I came to when I saw the word "esophageal."

In conclusion, it really should be known as esophageal cancer, because it is in the esophagus. Vote PRO.
