I will start off this debate with some definitions.

Definition of a human: a human being. (http://dictionary.reference.com...)

Definition of equaility: the state or quality of being equal. (http://dictionary.reference.com...)

Opening Statements

All humans are equal no matter what religion, political preferences, gender, sexual preferences, employment, personal preferences, ethnicitys, ect.

All humans are born equal and die equal.
Nails

Con

PRO's definitions are:
Human: Human being
Equality: Being equal

Despite the enormous amount of clarification that these definitions give to the topic, it still seems rather vague. Because of a lack of further clarification, I'll assume that PRO plans on defending against all persons and any form of inequality. As such, I'll address multiple aspects of equality in this debate.

========================
=1: People are not monetarily equal=
========================

"The method the Imperial State Institute for Nutrition at Tokyo developed for measuring the amount of a person's skin is to take a naked person, and to apply a strong, thin paper to every surface of his body. After the paper dries, they carefully remove it, cut it into small pieces, and painstakingly total the person's measurements. Cut and dried, the average person is the proud owner of fourteen to eighteen square feet of skin, with the variables in this figure being height, weight, and breast size. Basing the skin's value on the selling price of cowhide, which is approximately $.25 per square foot, the value of an average person's skin is about $3.50."[1]

Because not everybody has the exact same amount of skin, not everybody is equal. There is a direct correlation between the total surface area of your body and your monetary value. People with more portly proportions can proudly proclaim their superiority over those of a more diminutive stature. For example, yo' mama is worth a far larger amount than most.

==================
=2: All races are not equal=
==================

Esquimaux, while technically human[2], could hardly be considered 'equal' to Europeans, Africans, or any other race.

1. They are as much animal as they are human. They are the only known tribe to eat raw meat, the Esquimaux mother shows animal-like affection towards her young, they have unkempt hair and beards, and "there is something terrifying in their face, that shews the animals, or is very brutish."[3]

2. They have only a loose system of moral code. Esquimaux women are coerced into marriage, polygamy is common, and little care is given to the virginity of adolescents.[3] They are also, false, treacherous, and untrustworthy.[4]

3. Esquimaux were barbarous villains. European explorers were advised that they were better drowned than shipwrecked on Esquimaux coasts, and with good reason. They were violent savages who would cut an entire boat to pieces to salvage a few iron nails.[4] Even other Indians hated them:

"This inhuman proceeding of the Esquimaux against all strangers is the reason why none of the Indians of North America ever give quarter to the Esquimaux if they meet them, but kill them on the spot, though they frequently pardon their other enemies, and incorporate the prisoners with their nation"[4]

Thus, discrimination between race is not only permissible, but necessary to establish Esquimaux as a race inferior in all ways to all other beings unlucky enough to share a genus and species with them.

==============================
=3: All humans are not given the same rights=
==============================

A. Dead people are not given the same rights as other people
i. The deceased are not allowed to vote.
ii. Corpses with salaries below the poverty line[5] are not provided with social services.
iii. The dead can not own property. In fact, people often give their possessions away to their relatives without their consent.
iv. Discrimination based on life is legal. People can refuse to hire you simply because you're not currently living.

B. Children are not given the same rights as other people
i. Children are not allowed to vote.[6]
ii. Children cannot drink alcohol.[7]
iii. Parents are allowed to control and coerce their children.

C. My slave is not given the same rights as other people
i. I do not let him vote.
ii. I do not let him bear arms.
iii. When angry, I often inflict cruel and unusual punishment on him.
iv. I do not allow him to own property.

==========================
=4: Not all persons are of equal weight=
==========================

Paul Mason[8] weighs about 44 times as much as Thapa Magar[9].

Clearly, not all persons are equal in terms of size.

I am quite aware that my definitions are crap. Still, why must you loophole them? I mentioned in my first post of round one "All humans are equal no matter what religion, political preferences, gender, sexual preferences, employment, personal preferences, ethnicities, ect." What does this have to do with the amount of skin someone has? "I'll assume that PRO plans on defending against all persons and any form of inequality" well Nails, you assumed wrong. Besides how obviously you copied from Wikipedia or from some other source of text, each argument you bring up is preposterous. After your strange and plagiarized skin argument, you bring up examples of horrid people from our past. We humans view people in a very loose code: good, or bad. Of course many other words can be described of how we think of a person, but this is the basic set of words we learned at an early age to link to its meaning. If you see a man snatching a woman's purse we assume he is "bad". If we see a firefighter save a baby from a burning building, we assume he is "good". However, this is the way a human's brain was taught to learn. Unless you are some never-aging extra-terrestrial (your profile says otherwise so I assume you're not) you did not state why they had done what they did. The man who stole the purse could have stolen it because it was his girlfriend's to begin with. The firefighter could have set the fire and tortured the infant. Noone knows every detail about the past, including you and I. Next up: your argument that the dead are not treated equally to a human. Hmmm....... a dead person. That means a person who is not living and their life is over. If I go into a graveyard and preen open a coffin I do not see a human. I see a pile of filthy bones. Here is a definition of a human that you so rudely asked for: can also vary greatly (e.g. obesity). Unlike most other primates, humans are capable of fully bipedal locomotion, thus leaving their arms available for manipulating objects using their hands, aided especially by opposable thumbs.
Although they are similar compared to other primates, with notable hair growth occurring chiefly on the top of the head, underarms and pubic area, the average human has more hair follicles on his or her body than the average chimpanzee. The main distinction is that human hairs are shorter, finer, and less heavily pigmented than the average chimpanzee's, thus making them harder to see.[46]

The hue of human skin and hair is determined by the presence of pigments called melanins. Human skin hues can range from very dark brown to very pale pink. Human hair ranges from white to brown to red to most commonly black.[47] This depends on the amount of melanin (an effective sun blocking pigment) in the skin and hair, with hair melanin concentrations in hair fading with increased age, leading to grey or even white hair. Most researchers believe that skin darkening was an adaptation that evolved as a protection against ultraviolet solar radiation. However, more recently it has been argued that particular skin colors are an adaptation to balance folate, which is destroyed by ultraviolet radiation, and vitamin D, which requires sunlight to form.[48] The skin pigmentation of contemporary humans is geographically stratified, and in general correlates with the level of ultraviolet radiation. Human skin also has a capacity to darken (sun tanning) in response to exposure to ultraviolet radiation.[49][50] Humans tend to be physically weaker than other similarly sized primates, with young, conditioned male humans having been shown to be unable to match the strength of female orangutans which are at least three times stronger.[51]

Constituents of the human body
In a person weighing 60 kg
Constituent Weight [52] Percentage of atoms [52]
Oxygen 38.8 kg 25.5%
Carbon 10.9 kg 9.5%
Hydrogen 6.0 kg 63.0%
Nitrogen 1.9 kg 1.4%
Other 2.4 kg 0.6%
Humans have proportionately shorter palates and much smaller teeth than other primates. They are the only primates to have short, relatively flush canine teeth. Humans have characteristically crowded teeth, with gaps from lost teeth usually closing up quickly in young specimens. Humans are gradually losing their wisdom teeth, with some individuals having them congenitally absent.[53]

The deceased, since no longer actually ABLE to do anything, aren't debated on for rights considering there....well....should I spell it out for you? D-E-A-D!
Children, honestly, are not given all the rights adults are granted. Children are not allowed to vote because their brain is not fully developed to comprehend the decision of whose name to put down on a ballet. Children cannot consume alcoholic beverages because, again, their brain is not fully developed. (By the way, isn't alcohol not exactly a good right to be given to? It is basically like drinking bottles of faint poison.) Parents ARE allowed to control their children, but to a certain extent. Parents are not allowed to lock their children up and throw bricks at them, but since a child has not (yet again) developed mentally they really can't care for themselves. Parents are given the right to feed, live, comfort, educate, and do more things with their children. I have never met a child who complained about their parents feeding them, or cry about being not able to boss themselves around to bathe reguraly. Your next point I feel very disgusted to speak about, considering you said "my" slave, and not "a" slave. Bigotry aside, your argument is invalid. What I am saying is that a slave owner, or in this cause "you" are entirely equal to this slave you speak about. "You" just don't act like he is because of his skin. Here is a quote from Chief Standing Bear "This hand is not the color of yours, but if I pierce it I will feel pain. If you pierce your hand, u will also feel pain. The blood that will flow from mine will be the same color as yours". This is an excellent reason as why humans are equal. But I digress. And again you mention an argument totally irrelevant to the list I wrote down in my first post. Ha. Your second source is a strange source you led me to and it was not very helpful. The other links you gave kind of defended your argument and were decent, but I was puzzled as to why you gave me links to some man who gobbles down 20,000 calories a day and a beyond under-fed child. I am looking forward to your next post, but please don't waste my time by typing up loopholes.

==========
=0: Loopholes=
==========

--"I am quite aware that my definitions are crap. Still, why must you loophole them?"

I addressed all of the major issues that generally come up in regards to equality: monetary, racial, and age equality
I also addressed multiple less common forms of inequality: status-of-life, slave, and weight equality

If there is something specific PRO wanted to debate, he should have noted it in round 1, or even in round 2.
The blame of any misunderstanding falls squarely on PRO's shoulders because he even admits "my definitions are crap."

===========
=.5: Plagiarism=
===========

--"obviously you copied from Wikipedia or from some other source of text"
By all means, do a search online and post a link to prove it. I plagiarized nothing.
All quotes were in quotation marks and complete with source citations.

--"your strange and plagiarized skin argument"
How did I plagiarize that? I made it clear that it was not my original wording. I even posted the source that the paragraph is from: http://www.coolquiz.com...

========================
=1: People are not monetarily equal=
========================

This went unaddressed by my opponent. People are clearly inequal in terms of the monetary value of their bodies, thus the resolution is negated and you vote CON.

Since there are still 4 more rounds of debate, I suppose I'll continue on to the remaining arguments.

==================
=2: All races are not equal=
==================

--"Unless you are some never-aging extra-terrestrial (your profile says otherwise so I assume you're not)..."
Nowhere in my profile does it stay that I am not an extra-terrestrial.

--"The man who stole the purse could have stolen it because it was his girlfriend's to begin with. The firefighter could have set the fire and tortured the infant. Noone knows every detail about the past, including you and I."

1. This argument assumes a utilitarian perspective. I could just as easily make the counter-assertion that Deontology is the correct moral theory. In which case, acting in accordance with the 'greater good' is not sufficient to justify Esquimaux atrocities.

2. Please, explain how their animalistic instinct, lack of morals, or belligerent nature could have been part of some overarching 'greater good' that the Esquimaux were trying to achieve.

==============================
=3: All humans are not given the same rights=
==============================

::The Rights of the Dead::

--"Hmmm....... a dead person. That means a person who is not living and their life is over."
No it doesn't, it just means that the person is not living. People have been known to come back from death.[1][2] For example, the corpse of Ronald Reagan was recently reanimated in order to lead the Republican Party.[3]

--"Here is a definition of a human that you so rudely asked for"

PRO already provided a definition for 'human' and now he is trying to change it and contradict his original statement? What's the point of defining a term if it can be changed? Can I just change the definition of human in the end of round 5 and win off of that? There is no way he can justify changing the R1 definition he gave now, once the debate is in full swing.

PRO originally defined a human as "a human being," and cadavers are clearly human beings.[4]

--"The deceased, since no longer actually ABLE to do anything, aren't debated on for rights considering there....well....should I spell it out for you? D-E-A-D!"

My opponent is being openly descriminatory and Lifist here, and I won't stand for it! How dare he insinuate that the dead have no rights! This is exactly the inequality I am talking about here! People like my opponent don't treat the dead with even an ounce of respect. We can't bat a blind eye to this outrage and make claims that "Every human is equal" when we have such abhorable Lifism in our midst, and thus we cannot affirm the resolution.

::Children's Rights::

--"Children, honestly, are not given all the rights adults are granted."

Case Closed.

::My Slave::

--"'You' just don't act like he is because of his skin. Here is a quote from Chief Standing Bear 'This hand is not the color of yours, but if I pierce it I will feel pain. If you pierce your hand, u will also feel pain. The blood that will flow from mine will be the same color as yours'."

My slave is White, so this argument is irrelevant.

If you must know, I enslaved him because I was trying to learn his name. He is currently trapped in my basement pending the expressed concern of my friends. The video above provides a better explanation (1:42-2:25).

==========================
=4: Not all persons are of equal weight=
==========================

Like my 1st contention, PRO has dropped this argument. Again, this means the resolution is negated.

We don't call a group of 2 a tribe. We don't call the world's population a tribe. The context in the article also implies that they are refering to Native Americans.

Nails, tribe basically just means society and could be applied to any nation. Sure it has connotations of primitive culture but if you call Inuit people a tribe, then why not French people?

Definitions of tribe on the Web: (typed define:tribe into google)

* a social division of (usually preliterate) people
* a federation (as of American Indians)
* (biology) a taxonomic category between a genus and a subfamily
* kin: group of people related by blood or marriage
http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu...

* A tribe, is a social group of humans connected by a shared system of values and organized for mutual care, defense, and survival beyond that which could be attained by a lone individual or family.

Pro don't make the mistake that his argument is plagarized merely because he cites his sources similar to how wikipedia cites its sources. Find proof before blindly accusing someone.
