Fantasy books are a great read for a student. They have you using your imagination. Also, these texts can get you hooked and want to read more, especially in a series. Even though they are not true, they can have morals that can change you views on different topics. Fantasy stories are good for students because they force you to make a mental-movie and think of far-fetched ideas, have you intrigued on a cliffhanger , and make you realize new things about different subjects.
I do not think that fantasy books are appropriate for students. If young children read them, they might believe that they are true, and once they find out they truth, they could be depressed. If students read fascinating true tales, then they will gain interest in something real, and get even more excited about it. Also, books that are true can also have a structure that is intriguing. If the story is an adventure from history, with excitement that makes you not want to put the book down, there could be interesting parts to it. If the book is interesting and full of information, then you can kill two birds with one stone.
