Everyone farts. Farting is one of many natural processes that makes people human. However, if a person conspicuously farts in a public area, he or she will immediately be antagonized by the people nearby. Thus, the person must hold in the gas despite the discomfort he or she may be feeling. It is ridiculous to have to worry about not doing something that comes naturally just because of the negative connotations that society has labeled the action with. It is even more absurd for people to judge others because of something they do themselves quite often. Passing gas is an important, healthy phenomenon of the human body. Public flatulence should not be looked down upon by any society.
If an individual need to pass gas, there are ways they can excuse themselves. They can make their way to a restroom or in the event that there is no restroom, they can step away and pass gas. To sit in a restaurant, or stand amongst a group of individuals and just fart is nasty. People should not be forced to deal with that horrible lingering smell when the individual who needed to pass gas could've just excused themselves. Removing yourself is polite and it's just better for everybody as a whole.
