Ferris Wheels are too dangerous and should be banned. There are many things that can go wrong on a Ferris wheel that could cause serious injury, death, or even psychoclogical damage. Ferris wheels are dangerous to small children, which are too ignorant to know NOT to jump out of a ferris wheel. They are also dangerous to animals which are similar to small children in the sense that can easily jump out and most likely hurt themselves (and most likely cause fatal accidents). The elderly are also at risk. Ferris Wheels are unstable and can cause someone of balance and fragile to slide around and possible fall out....again....causing fatal accidents. Even the common man/woman is at risk. A simple slipping of the foot or a curious person looking over could AGAIN cause fatal accidents. Not to mention Ferris Wheels are one of the top disease transmitters along with telephones, doorknobs, and small children. Think of how many people have touched the components. People who are seriously ill can easily put their germs on the common amusement park rides. Now, think about it. Ferris Wheels can kill! Through their faulty "safe" systems and the transmitting of diseases. Take that Matthew!

Ferris Wheels are only a danger to the ignorant. Meaning those who cannot understand basic safety rules. One does not extend their head outside of the cart without holding on. Young children should be watch closely by parents, if a child does come by harm it is only the fault of the parent. One must trust their instincts, if it feels dangerous to be in a Ferris Wheel I suggest you depart immediately.

Most of your arguement makes sense however, most accidents in the United States comes from ignorant safety measures. Car crashes, drowning, accidental stabbings and shootings all fall into this category (not counting murders or drunk driving). This proves that most dangerous accidents come from ignorance and not paying attention. Saying that ferris wheels are an exception does not make sense. And since you had no arguement agaisnt the transmitting of disease....I assume you agree :D.

I do not agree with your argument that Ferris Wheel's transmit disease any more than the rest of an amusement park. Simply running your hands across a hand rail can expose yourself to numerous diseases. Again, the idea that riding a Ferris Wheel causes you to be more susceptible to disease is a case of ignorance. In most public bathrooms there is a warning to wash your hands, therefore a rider who has not used proper health care cannot place blame solely on a Ferris Wheel.
I call into question whether my opponent has ridden a Ferris Wheel. If she has, she would know that there are safe guards against falling from a car. If you refer to the following link (http://www.antiquewhs.com...) you can see that a rider would purposely have to pull their body from beneath the bar and throw them self off. If this occurs, one would have to consider the mental state of the rider. In addition, the following link (http://media.photobucket.com...) shows another Ferris Wheel seat in which the rider would have to purposely stand and throw themselves from the car.
Furthermore, there is a height limit clearly displayed for all to see before entering the ride. I conclude, by saying that most deaths due to Ferris Wheel accidents are in small number and also just that, accidents. One could not assume that you would have a higher chance of death in a Ferris Wheel than you would simply riding in a car.
I would also like to ask how often you take your small animal with you onto a Ferris Wheel?

Wow, what a horrible debate. I'm sorry, but the arguments coming from pro are purely opinion based and have no factual basis whatsoever.
