Although we will never know for sure, the existence of ET will always be argued. I believe this theory is unlikely, due to the supposid sole purpose of Christ coming down and taking our sins away (us inhabitants of the Earth). Also when doing this, God wanted a Unified church (1 Corinthians 1:10). If god wanted a unified church, would he want this for the Earthly world or in the universe?

Greetings. I am a Christian and I will be arguing for the existence of extraterrestrial life.

First a definition:

extraterrestrial |G6;ekstrətəG2;restrēəl|

of or from outside the earth or its atmosphere

My first argument is that angels are ET life as they inhabit heaven, not earth.

My second argument is that God himself is an ET life-form for the same reasons as the angels are.

My third argument is based on Job chapter 1: 6-7.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Now, who are the sons of God?

We have three options.

  1. Jesus, the Son of God. However, this option is easily eliminated as the Bible never refers to Jesus as multiple individuals.

  2. Us, the redeemed, the Bible calls us the sons of God. I eliminate this option because this appears to be a political meeting that the redeemed would have little use in and the resurrection has not yet taken place.

  3. The “Adams” of other worlds. The ambassadors of Gods other creations. Notice Luke 3:38, Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. If Adam was the son of God, these other “sons” may be the first created beings in God’s other worlds! Looking at the context of verse 6 in Job 1, we see that this meeting is political in nature as Satan comes to the earth to represent it and us in Adams place as Adam handed “ownership” to him. It is most logical to then conclude that God has created other worlds unlike or like earth in this universe.

My fourth argument is based on God’s loving nature. God loves and loves to be loved as he is love. Why then, in all of his limitless existence would he only create one world? And then have to experience the pain of them rejecting him. Surely in his eons of existence he would have created other worlds and other sentient beings who he could love and be loved by.

I look foreword to seeing your rebuttals.

The Bible and the Cosmos

Scientists and astronomers are pointing telescopes toward the sky in the hope of retrieving an intelligent signal from our universe. The more they discover, the more they reveal the scope and wonder of it all. While they search the sky, the Bible not only talks about the existence of extra-terrestrial life, but has given us some fascinating insights into what this life is like. Scripture makes clear what science suspects - earth isn’t the only place in the universe with intelligent life.

Why should it be? Again, considering the size of the universe and the vast number of bodies it contains, it’s not far-fetched to believe that other life exists. And if that’s true, what’s illogical or impossible about the idea that this life could, in some way, interact with humanity?

In fact, that’s exactly what the Bible itself says.

Then God would use the church to show the powers and authorities in the spiritual world that he has many different kinds of wisdom. Ephesians 3:10 Contemporary English Version

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

(It’s important to note that when the Bible talks about heaven or heavenly places, it can mean the universe, the cosmos as a whole, and not just heaven as popularly understood. For example, see Psalm 19.)

Right from the start then, these verses point to the reality of intelligent life in other parts of the universe. More so, they depict these powers as interacting with us here on earth.

For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 1 Corinthians 4:9

A spectacle to men and to angels? This verse clearly indicates that beings from another part of the universe are watching this epic struggle unfold here.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. And the LORD said to Satan, From where do you come? So Satan answered the LORD and said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it. Job 1:6-7

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. … Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. Revelation 12:7-9, 12

So the Bible speaks about the war in Heaven, which Satan loses. In another passage Isaiah makes a fascinating observation about the fall of Lucifer to this Earth. He says:

How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! Isaiah 14: 12

He speaks of Lucifer being thrown out and falling from Heaven, to this Earth and then refers to him as the one who had weakened the nations - past tense! Satan’s deceptions had weakened the nations before he came to this Earth.

So where do these other beings live? Where are these other nations located? Once again the Bible has the answer, revealing the fact that our world is not the only one in this vast universe that God has created and populated.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds. Hebrews 1: 1-2

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God. Hebrews 11:3

Did you catch that? The Bible is not talking about the creation of the stars; it is speaking of the creation of worlds or planets. The Bible says that God did not just create our world; he created multiple worlds - plural!

It has only been in recent years that astronomers have been able to detect the presence of other planets in the universe. Due to the fact that planets do not produce light of themselves they cannot be seen outside of our solar system. However, with new technology, in the last few decades hundreds of extra solar planets have now been discovered.

Now, there are at least 125 billion known galaxies in the universe, and our Milky Way, which is one of the smaller ones, has over 200 billion stars. After creating such an immense universe, it is inconceivable that a God who describes his character as “love” would have left the universe as an empty desert, devoid of all life. The Bible is clear - He didn’t. He filled our universe with life, beings that He could love and that could love Him in return.

A Greater Reality

These few texts, taken together, show:

· the reality of intelligent life in other parts of the universe

· we are being watched by that life

· we can interact with that life daily

· some of this life is openly hostile to us

So if I would accept this debate, as a Christian, I would be arguing that ET is possible and biblical?
