Gay marriage should be legal in all 50 sates. There is nothing wrong with two people loving each other that are the same gender. These people deserve their chance at love and the government should not hold them back.

Hi, I'm Kyle, and I believe that gay marriage should not be legalized. Gay marriage should not be legal because gay couples are not able to reproduce. According to a study conducted by Robert Miller in 2012, 80% of heterosexual couples were married for the main purpose of reproduction.
In the next rounds I would like this to become a deeper debate.
Thank you for creating this debate, opponent.

Think gay people may not be able to reproduce themselves, but they could always adopt. Their are plenty of children out in the world looking for a loving home. Many couples gay and heterosexual couples not can not have children. Gay people also make up around 6 million people in population. Homosexuals can adopt or have a surrogate mother to carry their child. Homosexuals may not be able to psychically carry their child they are still able to have one with the DNA and or adopt.

Homosexual adoption is a good point. However, gay marriage should not be legalized because we need to preserve the tradition of heterosexual marriage. Tradition is that heterosexuals should be allowed to be married, but not homosexual couples.

I'm not saying we need to get rid of heterosexual marriage, but we need to consider homosexual marriage. Yes, heterosexual marriage is a tradition many carry, but some traditions need to be changed. Homosexuals are no different than heterosexuals really they both love one person and just want to be able to be accepted. But, sadly homosexuals can not be accepted because of the staggering amount of people that bash on them and send hate in their direction. Just a final thought it's straight people that bring gay people into the world.

Con

It is true that we could consider homosexual marriage, but that just kills the tradition of heterosexual marriage. Also, people would be so entertained by gay marriage so then homosexual marriage would be literally forgotten. Now I would like to refute the opponent's argument about adoption. Adoption is a good point, however that defeats the purpose of having actual children. And also many agree that gay couples would not treat an adopted child properly.
Lastly, I would like to go over my points.
1. Gay people cannot reproduce.
2. It defeats the whole purpose of heterosexual marriage.
Thank you.

Also, it has been scientifically researched that children have turned out the best when they have had both a mother and a father, seeing that a child needs mother's love, care, and a mother generally is the one that wants the child to slow do with life and be careful. A father shares his wisdom, and generally pushes the child to take risks in life. It is VERY hard for same-sex couples don't accomplish that mix of parenting between a mother and father.

Both these arguments are horrible. The debate in support of gay marriage goes far deeper than just 'Two people love eachother so they should get married" as does the debate against it. You both are just skimming the top of the real arguments.

I feel like besides for religion purposes, there isn't exactly a good factual debate for either side.

Kyle, yes they can't produce but doesn't that make them better parents? Because then there is 0% chance that they have a kid on accident. They will have to go through the tedious process of adopting, knowing all the way that they are 100% sure of what they are doing.

Reasons for voting decision: con didnt give good reason to ban it. "Tradition" is not a good reason. and not having kids is not a good reason. he needs to explain what would be so bad about it. what difference would it make? also, making babies isnt the one and only reason to marry. also, even if con proved that it was wrong, so what? does he think that EVERY wrong think should be illegal?
