Gay marriage is legal as long as one is a man and one is a woman.
What about one straight and one gay of the same sex? Or the other way around? What if three or more people want to all be married to each other?

What about mixed marriages, or forced marriages? What about other species?

Can other species marry as long as it is to the same species?

http://news.bbc.co.uk...

Do they still have to be of different sex? What if they don't have sex and they are all the same "sex" anyway?

Gay Marriage by definition involves two members of the same sex. Therefore it is impossible for one to be a man and one to be a woman.

http://en.wikipedia.org...

Mixed/Forced/ and Beastiality are completely non - resolutional. Therefore, my resolution of Gay Marriage being legalized stands for itself.

My contentions :

a) All people are entitled to human rights
b) Religion is not answer but an excuse
c) Love is love

Well then what gives the government or anyone else the right to decide what is and what is not a marriage?
Same for religion insofar as my opponent deems it worthy of our consideration of course.
I'll show you freedom.

That is exactly my point..... There should be no government interference which is...

It's the conservative catholics who are driving the gays from the marriages because of their fundamentalists ideals...

Are you actually versed in this topic?

.... this is a very bad debate.

Let me get this clear. My opponent is saying that all the quite extensive legal benefits of marriage should be discontinued.

Laws contining the words "marriage," "married," "unmarried," "spouse," "family" and similar terms are to be stricken throughout the world.

There will still be family medical coverage except from the government.

No, I'm saying the benefits of marriage should be extended to homosexual partners, do you understand what your talking about?

I'm saying that the legal benefits of marriage should be extended to homosexual partners. There is no dual medical coverage, no joint tax benefits, etc.

For example, when a gay man is hospitalized his partner is unable to be with him because of the fact that he is not family nor is he the spouse.

There will still be family medical coverage except from the government.

My opponent is correct morally but not grammatically, logically or coherently.

I believe that gay marriage should be legalized. I believe this because it's denying people of their basic human rights. Imagine if it was the other way around and you weren't able to marry someone because they were the opposite sex as you. Gay people are people too and they deserve to marry whoever they want just like heterosexuals. Love is love no matter who it's between. Everyone should have the right to love whoever they want.

I personally would negate, based on the fact that marriage is a religious institution, not a legal one; the government actually shouldn't be able to pass laws saying who can or cannot marry. I am in no way religious, but if religion dictates that marriage is only possible between a man and a woman, then that's the way it has to be; equality would be nice, but reality is a little bit different. While I understand that people may have 'rights', religions themselves have a right to be free from state intervention; basically, a government can't say "You have to marry these people because we passed a law that says so."

Sadly enough, I had to vote against my own opinion, mainly due to the fact that InfraRedEd basically took the good intentions of the debate, beat them to a pulp, and just when they tried to stand back up, he went back and kicked them.

As I stated, this is an intensely horrid debate.

I felt no need to explain my contentions as my opponent did not explain his. I'm not as actually as poor of a debater as this debate is showing me to be, I am just very confused my InfraRedEd in general.

What kind of case is this?

a) All people are entitled to human rights
b) Religion is not answer but an excuse
c) Love is love

Um...
A) How does that prove anything?
B) What are you talking about?
C) ...huh?

Essentially, you make 3 abstract statements and then claim that they prove your point.

Honeslty, I absolutely HATE HATE HATE the argument love is love. Although, I am for legalising gay marriage, I Hate that argument. If you are going to say religion is an excuse, then love is an excuse as well, because they both are in the "morals" category so to say... Love is not even a real thing and not necessary for survival or really anything in any way, so it's an irritating argument. Its nothing. its pointless.

I am for legalising gay marriage, but personally, I would never be a lesbian because of my religion [but that's just me] and I don't think that if you are religious you should want other people to marry to same sex--govern your own life, dont worry about other people. worry about urself and your family.
