I believe that Gay marriage should be accepted as a lawful contract for many reasons. My first reason is that surely sexual orientation should not determine whether or not someone should be allowed to marry, as that is discrimination.
Jonathan11

Con

You must live in the States, because homosexuals have full rights, anyways I will still argues the fact that it is crucial for a child's upbringing to to have BOTH a mother and a father.

sexual orientation should not determine whether or not someone should be allowed to marry, as that is discrimination.

So this doesn't make to much sense but I will still refute your point. Marrying the same sex is like marrying an animal, God did not intend for us to do such.

Without religion, there is no debate on whether certain children born differently could get married.

Religion is a brain eating bacteria :)

There is a much deeper conflict in this debate than is normally raised. Homosexuals and homosexual advocates want full celebratory acceptance in society of homosexual behavior. They believe, or hope, that this can be pushed into acceptance by passing a law. This is why a very reasonable compromise, a civil union, is not acceptable. A well crafted civil union law would give homosexuals couples all advantage of a traditional marriage contract except the celebratory aspect. There would be no law preventing them from celebrating with all the trappings of a traditional marriage, only they would not have the same flavor of societal stamp that traditional state sponsored marriage provides. I think this is the crux

Marriage is two people committing their lives together. Calling it a civil union or doing it outside of a poison factory doesnt change that, even if you change the name of the poison factory to a church, mosque, or synagogue :)

Devient. Marriage is governed by the church. It may precede it, but the Church has took and held that role longer than the US. This is why Vermont created the Civil Union. You can not have Separation of Church and State only when your side benefits.

This debate was terrible...

marriage is a religious custom and therefore should not be changed based on a change in a society

Reasons for voting decision: A disappointing debate, as both forfeited. However, judging from the small amount of an argument posted, Pro's argument was poor, though superior to Con's.

Reasons for voting decision: This was poor lol, but simply put Pro made a case and Con refuted it with because "god said". Judging this from a legal perspective, God can not influence gay marriage. Separation of church and state promises this. So for that con failed, and pro made an argument and it remained uncontested.

Reasons for voting decision: All in all a pretty disappointing debate, but Pro was the clear winner, as she made a case which Con failed to refute. Whether gays can effectively raise a child is irrelevant as the resolution concerns marriage. Unmarried couples can and do raise children. The god argument is invalid for the obvious reason of separation of church and state. It appears that Con knows too little about the constitution to be commenting on political issues at all.
