Gay marriage should be permitted for homosexuals and/or bisexuals. It is not right for others to interfere with one's life and who they chose to have a legal relationship with. http://www.debate.org...
Although, a marriage is an agreement between a man and a woman and its nature is trying to lead the couples toward reproducing and uniting together as one. Also, supporters of same-sex marriage present something completely different. They say that it is the union between two people of the same gender. This rebuts the specific main purpose of a marriage: to maintain the human race and raising children.
The definition of marriage is the unity of two people. Not specifying gender or what must be done between the two people. It is not mandatory to have sexual relations or create an offspring. Even if the two people were to want a child they could do so by adoption or segregates.
Based on the many difficulties faced by the many children who are orphans or are raised by a single parent, a relative, or a foster parent, it is best for a child to grow up under the influence of their mother and father. If the couple in a gay marriage adopt a child, the child will always be deprived of either his or her biological mother or father. The child will be raised by one person who isn't blood-related and the child will always be deprived of either a mother or a father.
A child who is an orphan should be happy to have a home whether it is with two fathers, two mothers, or one of each. The child would not be deprived of anything. Adult couples are perfectly capable of taking care of a child with out both having different genders. Plus many children grow up fine with out both or no biological parents. All that matters is the child is treated right and given love. In addition it is a person's right as a human being to marry who they like as long as both sides are consenting adults. It is wrong to deprive any human being of that right.
Children who were raised under a straight marriage turn out better than those who were raised under a gay marriage to grow up and become a balanced person, children need role models of both sexes, mother and father. For example, boys without fathers under-achieve. Also due to certain religions, gay adoption is definitely a violation as well as gay marriage. Morals are supposed to teach us that a marriage is a union between a woman and man.
Gay marriage defeats society's purpose of holding together family bonds. The value of marriage to keep a family together and couples of the same sex may cause conflict within families. In other words, some families may be religious. Gay marriage would be a violation of traditional morals. For example, God's image is both male and female. His moral nature is expressed through the union between man and woman and this is only possible through a heterosexual union.
Other's opinions and religion has nothing to do with another's life and decisions to marry and raise their children or family the way they want. It is wrong for a Christian person to go and tell a Muslim person how to raise their children and tell them that they are wrong because their views and religion are different then it is not acceptable to do that to some of a different sexual orientation. In addition to that, if we were to go onto the topic of religion and homosexuality the Christian bible contradicts God's views on homosexuality anyway.
However, gay marriage is incompatible with beliefs and traditions of many religious groups. The idea of a marriage is a relationship between two people of the opposite sex. This is a primary belief for many Americans but to be free to express this, it is only possible through a heterosexual union. Due to same-sex marriage, it increases much sexual confusion as well as sexual experiences for young people. This defeats the idea of what a marriage is.
