A major issue with gay marriage is peoples religious views; however, the constitution is what determines our rights as Americans not the bible or any religious entities. The constitution never mentions anything about gay marriage being crime. In fact, the constitution never mentions anything about marriage being only between a man and a women either. This great nation was built on freedom, it was not built on religion nor was it meant to be. Their is supposed to be a separation of church and state but the opposing side seems to forget that aspect when they mention how gay marriage is a sin and goes against gods will. To have faith in one religion and to follow what you believe in that religion is up to the individual. As an American, I have the right to believe in anything I desire but to push my beliefs on someone else is wrong and a waste of time. "The fact is, Jesus said in Matthew 19 that God's plan for marriage was one man with one woman for life." (Jeffress, www.foxnews.com). This statement from Jeffress might be true but this nation does not abide by the bible. This nation follows the rules of the constitution. Even President Barack Obama, a religious man himself passed an executive order for gay marriage to be legal. Jeffress says, "...And so by embracing same-sex marriage President Obama has really contradicted the Jesus that he says he follows." President Obama is a constitutional lawyer and practiced as one before becoming our first black president. President Obama has a degree in the constitution and he is a Christian. He put aside his religious beliefs because this country was not founded on religion; therefore, religion has no say in the laws made, passed, or followed. "You know, Malia and Sasha, [President Barack Obama's daughters] they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we"re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn"t dawn on them that somehow their friends" parents would be treated differently. It doesn"t make sense to them and, frankly, that"s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective." (Obama, www.Washingtonpost.com)

It's true that gay marriage is a major issue; many people had argued for and against it. Many people had somewhat excepted same-sex marriage. However, we cant deny that same-sex marriage is wrong. First of all, it defies nature. There is a reason why there are males and females, and there is a reason why the male has a sperm and the female has an egg. Homosexuality is wrong because its faulty, male and females were made so that they can elope, that's why each gender had different sex organs. Second of all, it restricts a child from a mom or a dad. For a child, they have to have a mother or a father figure. In some sense, gay marriage deprives a child from that when adopted. In conclusion, gay marriage is wrong because it defies nature.

I really liked Comment Actor's post, literally took the words right out of my mouth, couldn't of said it better myself.

"Your point seems flawed to me.
Yes, homosexual REPRODUCTION defies nature. And they aren't attempting to do it
Nature never stated humans should marry, or be reproductively exclusive for that matter. Religion did. Nature didn't mean for cardiac arrest victims to survive. and they do. Burn victims should, by nature's law, either die or be scarred. Plastic surgery helps. We cannot pick and choose when we want nature to govern policies.
Yes, homosexual adoption does deprive children from one gender's parent figure. So does single parents. Are you stating that single parenthood should be banned? (please say no)
The debate is about marriage, which, in today's society is about rights and duties since it is a contract.
You cannot hide the religious connotation of your argument. I believe that having a problem with homosexuality is not something one can be criticized for, because it is somewhat new to affirm it in society. However, to deprive any group of people from equal rights seems unacceptable. Mormons have several wives. They marry their children young. Nobody has risen against their rights. Muslims practice prayer 5 times a day. Jews fast on Yom Kippour. Christians light trees at Rockerfeller center. Each group has its own practice, and nobody deprives their rights. Doing so for homosexuals is refusing to accept that they are an existing community, and therefore undermining their validity in our society."
