Germany—a nation known for having the world's best engineers. We built the world's first expressway. We built the world's first jet aircraft. We built the world's first missiles. We hung on so long in World War Two because of our superior discipline and excellent engineering. That war gutted my homeland, but we Germans are still the foremost engineers in the world. And we still build the world's best automobiles, all of which are capable of maintaining very high rates of speed with upmost efficiency.

How can you define the best automobile? Affordability, quality, innovation, eco friendly? Well, take these into consideration and it easy to see that Germany does not produce the best vehicles. Japan clearly produces the best vehicles that most people in the world depend on. Also, Japan is always changing and making new models that are completely different than before. Germany, for the most part, does not change their image with the changing time. I will not disagree that Germans make quality products. But, when looking at the grand scheme of things Japan really does a better job. Japan had their economy devastated after WWII, remember the two A-bombs? Yet, they have recovered to by one of the largest economic powers in the world with a populations that is minute to Germany'. It is all because they have quality vehicles that lure investors because they have proved there dedication to excellence time and time again. This site provides good info http://www.jama.org.... Germany makes some really badass looking whips, but if we talk about the "best" looks are not the only thing on the list. So please define "best" otherwise other factors that most typical people find important like durability, dependability, warranty, etc will always reign as most important.

Actually, Papryka, BMW built motorcycles since the 1920s, and their logo signifies a spinning propeller, noting that they originally also built aircraft. BMW built the R75 motorcycle, during WW2, with the sidecar with the machinegun mounted on it and a driven third wheel (forward and reverse gears and high and low ranges) that you see in old movies zooming around the North African deserts when Rommel was out there. In short, if you're going to pick on a German company, BMW probably wasn't the best choice. Never heard of them being a tire company.

I don't know about automobiles, but I think Germany still builds the best motorcycles.

I do not advocate 1 round debates, as there is practically no way for the Instigator to win. That being, said... tjzimmer wins. I wish this would have been more than 1 round though.

I would just like to say, that during World War II, prisoners of Auschwitz concentration camp (and other camps) worked for BWM. Though, back then they were a tire business.
