I believe global warming is not caused by humans.

Thanks for letting me debate you on this.

My opponent doesn't believe we humans have caused global warming.

I believe we did. Here, you can see it's very likely that humans caused it. Experts said it. http://news.nationalgeographic.com...

"99 percent" is what it is, ladies and gentleman.

Human activity, such as fossil fuel emissions from not-so-eco-friendly humans, agriculture, and other human-stuff has cornered our climate into the "heat zone." Our atmosphere can withstand only so much smog and exhaust from automobiles, airplanes, and boats. Smoking of cigarettes can also make a small contribution.

Here are some of the biggest contributors. Source: http://www.ecobridge.org...

- Carbon Dioxide from Power Plants
- Carbon Dioxide Emitted from Cars
- Carbon Dioxide from Airplanes
- Carbon Dioxide from Buildings
- Methane
- Nitrous oxide
- Deforestation

As you can see, these projects were introduced to the Earth by man.

"My opponent doesn't believe we humans have caused global warming."

I never said that. I said I believe "Global warming is not solely humans fault."

Second- "humans caused it. Experts said it."

That is only partly true. Most experts believe otherwise: http://www.aproundtable.org...

Methane-
"Each cow emits 200 to 400 quarts of methane gas per day, or 50 million metric tons per year."
http://www.straightdope.com...

As you can see- Humans are not even close to the sole problem of "Global Warming"

"I never said that. I said I believe 'Global warming is not solely humans fault.'"

But you did say it, in fact it was the only thing you said in your R1.

"I believe global warming is not caused by humans."

I guess I was just thrown off by both claims. To me, humans causing global warming and whether global warming was solely caused by humans are too different to use interchangeably. Saying, "global warming is not caused by humans" implies that humans had no part in the cause at all. Whereas, "humans are not the sole cause" means that you acknowledge humanity's contribution but you claim there are other factors aswell.

I think this debate is concerned with whether global warming would be happening at all if humans didn't exist. I don't believe it would. I believe if humans weren't emitting carbon dioxide (greenhouse gases) or industrializing the once-very-green Earth, we wouldn't have undergone 20 years of unprecedented climate change. I believe that is a by-product of human occupation and growing technology.

"That is only partly true. Most experts believe otherwise: http://www.aproundtable.org...;

The author of the first link doesn't even believe global warming exists (the pastor who is quoted also agrees with him).. and the third link is a little wacky. Looks like a bunch of conspiracy theorists looking for business by claiming that banks and credit lenders are evil people out to rape you.

As for JunkScience, the author (Steven Milloy) does have experience in these matters. He's a columnist for the Fox News website who has a long history of denying environmental problems. Can you even trust his stance? He criticizes the effects of secondhand tobacco smoke yet he is a paid supporter of the tobacco industry. Sounds too fishy to be considered reliable (to me, anyway). Here's a link concerning him (also check out Wikipedia's article if you're interested in further reading): http://www.sourcewatch.org...

Here is another reliable source (NASA), which supports man-made global warming (though it is not assuming that it is solely man-made). http://www.nasa.gov...

I guess our stances aren't totally different. I was rebutting your opening statement, rather then the debate's title. It can get confusing though.

My opponent has ran out of time for this debate and could not counter any of my arguments. As Jamesothy has no doubt realized my position is the more correct one, I urge you to vote Con.

RFD-
I still agree with PRO despite this debate.
Conduct- CON...Pro dropped 2 rounds without explanation.
Spelling/Frammar- CON...Pro forgot a period in his last statement and used a hyphen instead of a comma.
Convincing arguments- PRO... The topic is not, 'Global warming is not primarily human's fault', it is 'Global warming is not solely human's fault.'
Reliable sources- CON, both left 5 sources, however, CON sourced NASA and a few sources that are more reliable.
