A major claim among environmentalist groups lately is that man made global warming is destroying the Earth. My opponent must show how the Earth is in fact getting warmer and how humans are the direct cause of this warming trend. I will be arguing that climate change is a natural process with very little influence from humans.
First round is for setting up arguments and agreeing to terms of the debate. All other rounds are for actual debate.
To whomever accepts this debate I wish you luck and look forward to our debate.

Ok...good luck! Just to let you know, you have the easy side, so this will be a challenge for me!

I thank my opponent for taking this debate. I see that this is your first debate so I welcome you. You say I have the easy side in which case I hope you enjoy a challenge. My basic arguments are as follows

One thing that proponents of man made global warming rarely mention is the medieval warm period which was warmer than it has been in recent years and they would have had far less means of creating Global warming. This was succeeded by the Little Ice age which is the starting points of many of the graphs. [1]

It was found that they had lied and deliberately skewed the data so that it looked that the temperature change was worse than it actually was. [2]

In fact in recent years it has actually been cooling, but this is also part of a natural trend. [3]

Therefore, heating and cooling of the earth is a natural process that humans have very little effect on.

I await my opponent’s response

Both, it is fairly common on DDO. I have put about 4-6 hours into openings and had forfeits, just take it for what it is. You can also put bounds on who can accept the debate which will prevent it.

Yeah, I agree. I expected a debate with one of my debates, but so far, as you have seen, my opponent has forfeited several times (3 rounds, out of 5). It is very annoying for someone to wait a couple of days/hours before he/she can post his/her argument. It's ridiculous. Forfeits mean tardiness and general lack of affection for the debate.

True, and I have a feeling he won't be back for future rounds either. I am getting tired of this, in future debates I will make it a condition that a forfeit is an automatic loss.

This debate could have been interesting, if it were not for Pro's forfeiture.

Man-is-good that is probably true. My argument is essentially that if humans do contribute it is so minute as to not be negligible.

It's better to say humans are contributing, rather than causing, global warming, PRO.
