In a fight between Goku and the god of thunder: Thor, Goku would win.

Thor would win because is god, meaning he is virtually immortal. Goku may have the power to destroy planets but Thor has already conquered galaxies and seen experienced much more than the sain .Fock sains.

Keep in mind that winning a fight does not mean dying. Also, Goku became immortal as well, after dying and coming back to life several times and saving the universe several times, the heavens have allowed him to be in the living world whenever he wants and go back to the land of the dead whenever he wants.

Now, let's compare their fighting capabilities.
In terms of speed, Goku is faster. Plus Goku has the ability to teleport instantly anywhere in the universe essentially meaning that he is faster than light.
Thor is no where near this speed, let alone the speed of light, according to this forum:

Goku is also invulnerable to electricity and a powerful blow with Thor's hammer should not affect Goku, who survived blows strong enough to destroy the Earth scathlessly.....
When it comes to strength...it's needless to say that Goku's far surpasses Thor's. I've done some research on Thor, and it appears that his strength matches Hulk's, if not a bit stronger. Goku has dealt with monsters like Hulk since Goku was a child.

I've put into consideration that Thor holds back a lot of his full power. But so does Goku. His normal form should be enough to defeat Thor and if not, he can use his Kai'o'ken, which can multiply his power 10 times. Then his super sayain form multiplies that 50 times, and super saiyan 2 multiplies that by 100 times, super sayain 3 multiplies it by between 400 times, his super saiyan 4 multiplies it by 500 times. On top of that, if Goku regrows his tail, whenever there is a full moon he turns into a giant Ape and his power is also significantly increased.

On top of that, Thor relies on a weapon. Whereas Goku doesn't. However, Goku DOES have a magic staff that can grow and shrink infinitely. So in terms of weapons, I think Thor's hammer is on par with Goku's staff. But during a fight, Thor would be vulnerable if he accidentally dropped his hammer whereas Goku hasn't used his staff since he was about 14. Also, if we are talking about tools in a battle, Goku has senzu beans, which are magic beans, each bean can heal a person completely no matter how close to death they are.

You could argue that Thor would win simply because he is a "God". But recently Goku has developed a new form: the Super Saiyan God form, that far exceeds his Super saiyan 4.

You've also mentioned that Thor has seen more and has much more experience than Goku because he's conquered galaxies.

I disagree because there was a period of time when Goku traveled the whole universe, to every planet he could find intelligent and strong beings, where he'd learn fighting and other techniques from them, such as his instant transmission technique that I mentioned earlier could allow him to teleport anywhere instantly. He traveled the universe for almost 2 years before returning to Earth, which doesn't seem much but really is, considering he can instantly travel to the next planet.

Also, apart from the universe, Goku has also traveled to the afterlife. He went and fought strong people in Hell, and he went and trained in heaven with the Grand Kai (basically god) and fought with other strong heroes of the universe. He spent about 7 years in the afterlife, training and learning, before he returned to Earth once again.

Therefore, I conclude that Goku's experience should be on par with Thor's, if not tremendously greater.
*Also, know that in a fight, experience is not everything. You can have a very experienced person but has no limbs. Do you think he could win a fight against someone with less experience but has limbs?
