Good Samaritan laws in the United States are laws or acts protecting from liability those who choose to aid others who are injured or ill. They are intended to reduce bystanders' hesitation to assist, for fear of being sued or prosecuted for unintentional injury or wrongful death.

Recently the California Supreme Court ruled this week that a woman who pulled a co-worker from a crashed vehicle can be sued due to damages her actions caused.
This isn't exactly an argument, but rather a discussion. I would like to hear what you have to say.

I think I heard aboout the case you mentioned, someone pulled alady out of a car and the lady sued for damage done to her. It was on a radio talk show, I think Lars Larson's, and a bunch of people called and said they didnt want someone to hesitate to help them in the same situation for fear of being sued. I agree. If you save someones life, and they get hurt in the process, deal! You're alive right? Your welcome for saving your life, now stop trying to make people regret it. These people need to realize how much they owe, not how much they are owed, they have no gratitude for some intensely selfless acts.

The thing is, now people are going to think twice before they help someone. By the time they're done thinking the person could already be dead. To me, it seems like the person was just trying to get her out of the car qas quickly as possible, considerin that the car could catch fire. More importantly, I can beleive the court let this happen.

It's really ust stupid. I mean if you are about to die, why are you thinking, "the first person to help me is getting sued for not being perfect, they broke my nail"? I mean seriously, they need to grow up. If they saved your life, they should be saying thank you, not fork over a million bucks for a lawsuit. In my opinion, if they wanted to be dead so bad, the person getting sued should take a twelve-gauge, stare the in the eye, say "You didn't want me to save you? My bad. Here, I'll send you where you were heading right now." and blow their face off. they deserve it at that point.

Yeah, so I defintiely agree that if you are caught 'red-handed' helping someone, you shouldn't be sued. Thanks for the conversation, I enjoyed it.
