Throughout the years, gun control has become a topic that has enraged many gun owners for many years. Yes, in the Constitution, it says that we have the right to bear arms. But, shootings in schools, a theatre, and on many side streets have created a national emergency.

On a note: That is an opening argument. I did not cite anything, and did not really reveal any of my cards at all. Yes, I wrote something, but now we will begin. Again, no important cards revealed! Now to the real topic!

The right to bear arms is the main reason many think gun control is unconstitutional, but we first must turn our heads to the preamble of the Constitution. Here's what it says:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

First, we must notice that the people of the United States have to "ensure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty" Going into a school and shooting 20 kids does not insure domestic tranquility, does not ensure the general welfare of those people, and does not give them the beautiful gift of liberty because they are dead.

gun control is constitutional so long as it meets certain standards. it is an expansive topic spanning numerous potential policies, and it is subjected usually to intermediate scrutiny (occasionally strict scrutiny depending on the law and court).

Yes, you are right, but the framers also didn't expect that their would be a national emergency about shootings in schools!

Our founding fathers knew that the private banking cartels and corporations would eventually seize control of our country, which is why they gave us the constitutional right to defend ourselves in the instance of a second revolution, protests, or any other form of uprising. The government has absolutely no right to take that away from us.
