When I refere to gun control, i refere to the limits put out on firearms. The term "gun control" lately has been primarily directed toward the limits put out on assault rifles. When i refere to gun control in this debate, i refer to the later definition. I believe that one does not need an assault rifle to defend their selves. My policy is that all you need is a shotgun to ward off intruders. Hunting wise, assault rifles are not being used for hunting, and frankly you do not need a huge clip.

Con

Gun Control doesn't work in the United States. The top ten cities with the strictest gun laws are Chicago, New York, LA, Dallas, Cleveland, Oakland, Detroit, Philadelphia, Newark, Atlanta and out of these cites 7 of them are in the countries top ten gun homicides (Chicago, New York, LA, Oakland, Philadelphia, Newark, Detroit) and it has been calculated that 96% of guns used in crimes were obtained illegally so bad guys will find a way to get an assault rifle while the good guys can't.

Pro

In the bills for gun control, it states that additional funding will go to stoping the flow of illegal weapons. This is why gun control must be a federal bill, states themselves can not truly crack down on the weapons coming in from foreign soil. If we do start to 'crack down', then we will see less criminals with guns coming in from Columbia or wherever these assault guns may be coming from. Also US guns being sold are arming cartels that are killing border-police and other personel in Mexico.

The federal government can't stop smuggling, marijuana is illegal and $40 bil. are spent to stop it, yet it is one of the largest cash crops in the U.S. and it comes from such countries as Columbia. Also the constitution is the supreme law of the land and it states in the 2nd amendment that the rights of the people shall not be infringed the def. of infringed is an act so as to limit or undermine (something); which means the rights can't be limited or undermined which gun control does.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro had BOP and didn't meet it. Con also countered is arguments very well like when Pro said extra funding goes to stopping the flow of weapons and Con compared it to marijuana. Spelling is Cons, because Pro had more spelling mistakes.
