Yotsushi! Good luck!

Case 1: The Second Amendment Guarantees The Right To Bear Arms

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." (1)

This right is applied to fire arms owned by the people. This is an essential right. In a time when America feared a tyrannical leader, this right was given to the people of the United States of America to defend themselves from each other and the government.

I will use the moral right of autonomy for this argument.

The definition of autonomy is the right for an individual to make a fair, unbiased choice. Banning the purchase and ownership of firearms violates autonomy and the second amendment. These are rights given to the people. We deserve to keep those rights as we were guaranteed by our own government.

Case 2: Crime Rates Will Decrease With Guns

In this argument, we will go over two seperate statistics. First, we'll go over the whole United States in comparison to the whole wold. Secondly, we'll go over the states in the United States.

SP 1.)

A study by Harvard has found gun control to be counter-productive. As quoted by the article:

"If the mantra “more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death” were true, broad cross-national comparisons should show that nations with higher gun ownership per capita consistently have more death. Nations with higher gun ownership rates, however, do not have higher murder or suicide rates than those with lower gun ownership. Indeed many high gun ownership nations have much lower murder rates."

"[P]er capita murder overall is only half as frequent in the United States as in several other nations where gun murder is rarer, but murder by strangling, stabbing, or beating is much more frequent." (2)

" The US has the highest gun ownership rate in the world - an average of 88 per 100 people. That puts it first in the world for gun ownership - and even the number two country, Yemen, has significantly fewer - 54.8 per 100 people
But the US does not have the worst firearm murder rate - that prize belongs to Honduras, El Salvador and Jamaica. In fact, the US is number 28, with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people
Puerto Rico tops the world's table for firearms murders as a percentage of all homicides - 94.8%. It's followed by Sierra Leone in Africa and Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean" (6)

This is where I would like to make a point. If a person wants to commit murder, they'll do so by means other than guns.

SP 2.)

"True. The 31 states that have “shall issue” laws allowing private citizens to carry concealed weapons have, on average, a 24 percent lower violent crime rate, a 19 percent lower murder rate and a 39 percent lower robbery rate than states that forbid concealed weapons. In fact, the nine states with the lowest violent crime rates are all right-to-carry states. Remarkably, guns are used for self-defense more than 2 million times a year, three to five times the estimated number of violent crimes committed with guns." (3)

A study by the CDC:

"“Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year…in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008.”

"Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.” (4)

In conclusion, gun control does not deter violdent crime.

Case 3: Criminals Will Get Guns Elsewhere

As quoted by source seven, gun used by criminals in crimes are often illegal. In fact, 21% of guns used in crimes are obtained legally. Most of the guns are illegal.

"Street/illegal source 39.2 40.8 Friends or family 39.6 33.8 Gun show 0.7 0.6 Flea market 1.0 1.3 Pawnshop 3.8 4.2 Retail"

Criminals will get their guns elsewhere.

This is all I will write for now.
