I think gun purchasers should have background checks done and be reviewed, but the 2nd Amendment says, that you have a right to bear arms even if you aren't in the militia. Our founding fathers put this in effect to make sure that if America ever became a tyranny, was taken over, or was attacked ; the American people could fight against their opposers. If you take our guns away, you take our defense and freedom.

Pro

First, justify the necessity of the Constitution.

Second, justify the validity of the second amendment.

Thirdly, justify why the possession of weapons shouldn't be controlled so as to avoid anarchy and violent revolution (along with mindless crimes)

The way I spoke the 2nd amendment is valid, it is an actual quote actually. It may seem paranoid that I would say that America might be taken over, but that was a vague reason, I must admit. I do think that having no gun control is bad, because it offers no restraint, but too much is just as bad. Even now our rights are touchy in this subject. I think that it is important that we have guns. It can protect from burglars, after all, if everyone has a gun, what burglar will take the risk? Secondly, people can fight for themselves if they are attacked, if they are being mugged, can they wait fifteen minutes for the police to arrive? No, of course not, once again I will say that having background checks is a good thing. We don't want crazy people running around with guns; but taking away our guns will only hurt us. Like it or not, criminals will still find a way if guns are outlawed, and we won't have any defense. This doesn't have to do with just the 2nd Amendment, it has to do with plain common sense. It is hard for people to outlaw guns if they haven't hardly ever seen/used one. One can't take a vote based on the out of ordinary assaults and attacks on the news. I think that that those attacks are horrible and evil but if we can't defend ourselves, those attacks will just get worse. I have hunted my whole life and I think if people are taught correctly, then guns will be a blessing to America, not a curse.

Actually VisualMoney6, it says you have the right to a gun even if you aren't in the militia.

the second amendment states you have the right to bear arms with local militia not that you have the right to bear arms even when your not in one

i didnt say that, people shouldnt be allowed to mindlessly carry around guns, they should have lisences, i think the rights we have now are fine, but i dont think we need to take away or get rid of guns entirely. we can keep the ideas that we have now without adding contol and taking our freedom.

So are you saying that background checks are okay, but there should be no gun control beyond that?
