The gun control licenses only abide to your good average citizen while thieves do not really care about these laws, causing a nuisence for lawful citizens and anopen field for criminals to do their work.
in switzerland all men are required to be part of the militia and most keep fully automatis guns in there houses , yet there is virtually no gun violence there. citizens with guns deter crime not promote it.

Thank you for brining up this debate. I hope that we will both learn something from each other.

To begin with, you have to differentiate between two nations with widely different cultures. In

Finally, in Switzerland, people have a good lifestyle in general. In the United States, there is a great number of poor people living under bad circumstances. Children get raised by violent parents, they get into bad friendships, and are therefore more likely to use guns in a wrong way.

If a child were to vent out his/her anger on society by shooting up his/her school they would not undergo mental exams or even a background check. they could just get a gun and go (permitting no one at the school has a concealed weapon license which is hard to come by these days) shoot some innocent people. their parents could have unlicensed guns. He could easily (if the child was 14 years and up) buy a gun off the black market. people stop people with guns, not leftist laws

The purpose of having a gun is to kill. How many times have we witnessed young students massacring other students and commit suicide with guns? Have you ever heard of one person stabbing several others to death, e.g. a student stabbing other students? It may be that a student has stabbed another student, but in many cases, the other student has survived, and he has been the only victim. With guns, victims are numerous, and you can almost not escape from shootings if you are near.

The purpose of a gun is to kill, yes in the military. but in the cities you buy a gun to protect your property, life, and family. so would it make you feel better if someone started shanking you if you did not have a gun? what if they had a chain? you may not escape shootings if you are near guns but you can certainly return fire. The person that goes on a shooting rampage doesnt license his gun, because he would get it take away. guns will always fid ways into this country.

Statistics are showing that stricter gun control reduces the rate of murder. There is no evidence supporting your claim that a gun is useful in self defense. It can endanger your life even more because if you're being threatened by another person, and you posses anything dangerous on you, you might use it because you're in a state of shock, and then violence will appear. However, if you have nothing to use, the criminal might let you go.

Think about killing another person just because he threatened you, and did not mean it. Some people regret it until they die.

How do you "like" the 500 word character limit? Do you also "like" limiting free speech? Same thing, is it not?

But, anyways... get rid of that low character limit, and make the voting period a month, and I may take this.
