Indeed. And now I'm coming forward. This one is going to be organized, I'm known for my debates being all over the place because I kind get my feelings into it. Not bad right? Whatever, were here for guns. Anyway..

Guns

'A weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are, propelled by explosive force'

Nnow let me ask one question, why are these weapons of destruction supposed to be in a persons pocket?

According to the NYTimes, Nashville allows people in bars to walk around with a 9-millimeter pistol. Now explain to me in that sentence what phrase makes sense. A man walking in a bar with drunks with a gun I hear? Now this man can drink, easily play around with the gun, then whoops. It fires. A man either ends up injure or dead. OR other side, the drunk man can feel threaten get in a bar fight and out his gun, killing a man.

In the United States, 12 states allow people to roam in plain sight with a gun. A child can be around, pregnant woman, elderly lady walking quietly down the street. Oh and there's your friendly neighbor with a 9 mil gun in his pocket. Nothing to worry about.

Nnow I'm plain sick and tired of Americans acting like guns are the only way to defend yourselves. Yes there are now maniacs roaming the streets looking to rob money. That's doesn't mean you get a gun out. What ever happened to knives, pepper sprays, and other items that are able to come in handy? Once your spray or stab someone once that gives off the warning saying 'Hey back-off' And with a gun, you just shoot the bastard and have to deal with it the rest of your life.

'Yo I cant wait to get a gun, now no ones gonna mess with me!' Untrue. When a person shoots someone, they have to deal with that for the rest of their life. Its not like bam bam your dead, Ill get over it in a week. The human has to deal with that weight on their shoulders. Atleast knives and pepper sprays only have a very short lingering effect.

Also what are up with the ideas of guns being inside schools? Really america? Children being around guns while learning science? Ya gotta be kidding. It just confuses me how a person has to walk into a school, kill 20 children, for america to finally open their eyes with gun laws. Ive noticed the governers, and president no say anything about it. But ill get on the Lanza in another debate.

Wanna protect your kids? Then start putting security scanners or some type of awareness that immediately scans out guns or any other wepaons. Give out an alarm in the school and tell kids to evacuate asap. So that when teachers bring guns into schoos, kids are going to start to get curious (Unlike they already are) and want them for themselves. Then ya think who's fault was it? Oh yeah the idiotic teachers who put these weapons around them. School is about safety yes, but also about getting an education. Not a mad house.

I thank my opponent for her response. I will know get on to my side of the argument.

Side Note: Your argument lacked real stats only hypothetical situations, try not to do that next time in a debate

Into:

Contentions:

C1: Guns are necessary to the security of a free state.

The second admemandant guarntees the right to keep and bear arms. The founders knew that in order for to have a safe society we must have guns for average citizens. More importantly they knew that in order for the people to have power they must have guns to protect from abusive and obstructive government. Dictators take away gun rights so they can have unlimited power and keep the people powerless (1). Lets know look at the numbers.

"Since Australia's 1996 laws banning most guns and making it a crime to use a gun defensively, armed robberies rose by 51%, unarmed robberies by 37%, assaults by 24% and kidnappings by 43%. While murders fell by 3%, manslaughter rose by 16%. (2)

England: According to the BBC News, handgun crime in the United Kingdom rose by 40% in the two years after it passed its draconian gun ban in 1997.

These are just some of the eye opening stats on what gun control really does.

C2: Guns reduced crime

I am only going to use statitics for this section,

Kennesaw, GA. In 1982, this suburb of Atlanta passed a law requiring heads of households to keep at least one firearm in the house. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89% in Kennesaw, compared to the modest 10.4% drop in Georgia as a whole (2).

Ten years later (1991), the residential burglary rate in Kennesaw was still 72% lower than it had been in 1981, before the law was passed (2).

Justice Department study:

3/5 of felons polled agreed that "a criminal is not going to mess around with a victim he knows is armed with a gun.

74% of felons polled agreed that "one reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime."

57% of felons polled agreed that "criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police."

Conclusion:

As we can see by the stats gun control doesn't work and should not be increased but rather rolled back in all countries around the world.
