Yes guns were created to kill people, but so were a lot of things. Does that mean they are bad? So we should just get rid of everything that kills people. No we shouldn't then every other country in the world would come in and kill us.

"Guns don't kill people. People kill people"-Sean Spencer "Psych". I know it is kind of a joking show, but even children say brilliant things.

A gun sitting on a desk all alone will not kill someone. Someone holding a gun and pulling the trigger will kill someone. A gun is just a tool like a hammer made to make a something easier.

In a way, guns are more merciful. If someone is killed by a broad sword, they aren't killed instantly. They have to sit there and die knowing that there is nothing they can do about it. But guns are quick. You are more likely to die quickly with a gun than with a sword.

Con

The very first gun was made to KILL.

There was no other purpose at the time.

It is an instrument of war.

Guns were made and designed to kill.

Guns shouldn't exist.

Guns are bad.

Killing isn't always bad. If someone was coming at you to kill you and the only way you could was to shoot them in the head, would you do it?

And wars. I know that some are bad, but there are some that are good. America was able to be a country because of a war. If The Revolutionary war hadn't happened, America would not be here and both of us would either not exist, or pretty much be a slave to Great Britten.
Dragon_of_Christ

Con

Death is bad.

Wars creath a lot of deaths.

Things created for war and bad because they were originally created to kill a human being.

Therefore all things made for war (and killing) are bad.

Guns were made for both of these reasons and are thus bad.

3 points to Pro (Arguments), 1 point to Con (Conduct). Reasons for voting decision: Pro forfeited, so conduct goes to con. Con argued killing was bad, pro argued that guns would help in wars, give a quick death and be required for defense. Con didn't rebut and only reinstated the point that wars, killing and death was bad.

[*Reason for removal*] The voter is required to explain their decision and not merely to point to arguments made by both sides and point out that one side dropped the other's points. That can be part of a decision, but the strength of the arguments themselves must be compared. Lacking that, the vote is insufficient.

1 points to Con (Conduct). Reasons for voting decision: Pro forfeited, so Con gets conduct.

[*Reason for removal*] The standard for conduct only voting has changed. If the voter wishes to award conduct points on a debate where the side that forfeited did so for less than half the total number of rounds, then that voter is also required to assess arguments as part of their RFD.
