This is for a project for a nursing class. Do you believe that high school student under the age of 18 should be able to get HIV testing without their parents consent? Why or why not?

I would like to help you with your project. I believe students under the age of 18 should be able to get HIV testing without their parents consent simply because first approaching parents, might for many students under 18 put even more pressure on them when they actually feel like they need to get tested. I encourage every student who might be at risk for any STD to go to a doctor and get checked: you never know, age doesn't matter. If student are uncomfortable with first approaching their parents before actually knowing whether they are HIV-positive, only demotivates students to get tested.
