This is a haiku battle. The challenge is simply to make more interesting haikus than the other person. We can either have set topics or not. Thus, the first two rounds are to get acquainted with one another, and the last three will be for actual haikus.

The PRO and CON positions mean nothing. I only chose PRO because green is a nicer color to surround my name and avatar than red.

For those who don't know, the structure of a haiku is 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second line, and 5 in the last line. Apostrophication (a word I invented to mean the addition of apostrophes) is permitted to cut down on syllables, but only in a non-ridiculous fashion.

No, it doesn't really mean that at all. That's one interpretation you can have, if you want. There's no rule that states you should use fewer syllables. Since on can't really be counted in English there's just no point in getting so anal about it.

By the way, you're a pretty sad man. Don't you have anything better to be doing?

"Tatarize, haiku does not have an English syllable requirement. Not only is that fact, but it is something I EXPLICITLY stated in that battle."
-That's because the word "on" does not translate as "syllable", and so the Japanese count more "syllables" in a single word. This means you should have LESS syllables in English if not writing in a traditional "syllabic" style . In any case if you don't follow the 5 7 5 pattern, you should end up with less than 17 syllables, since a two syllable word can contain as many as 4 "on".

That's for the Teletubbies! Buaaaaaaaahahaha!

I'm saying I liked my haiku more. That doesn't mean I'm going to challenge you to a battle.

"Mangani... what are you even talking about? I'm not criticizing you."
-You're criticizing poetry. Challenge me, keep running, or humble yourself.

-- You fail. I'd vote against for failing to properly count, especially after you made a stink about it in the first round.
