First, as always, I thank my opponent for creating the debate.

Now, down to business.

Since my opponent has failed to provide definitions, I shall provide some.

Ring - a typically circular band of metal or other durable material, esp. one of gold or other precious metal, often set with gems, for wearing on the finger as an ornament, a token of betrothal or marriage, etc.

http://dictionary.reference.com...

Planet - Also called major planet. Any of the nine large heavenly bodies revolving about the sun and shining by reflected light: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto in the order of their proximity to the sun.

http://dictionary.reference.com...

Finger - One of the five digits of the hand, especially one other than the thumb.

http://dictionary.reference.com...

My opponent's resolution is as follows, "Half the planets have rings."

This is false, as only one of the planets, Earth, has rings.

As the previous pictures clearly show, the human hand is a necessity if rings are to be had. And being that Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, the planets my opponent sites, clearly do not sustain human life, they cannot, in turn, sustain rings.

With all this said, there is only one planet that has rings: Earth.

Half the planets do not have rings. Only one does.

I strongly advise the audience to vote CON.

This is probably the funniest debate I have seen here so far.

the topic specifies planetary rings. con, although amusing, did not disprove the resolution.

I generally despise semantic arguments, but this amused me so much that I have to make an exception!

Lol. Pluto is not included as a planet in this debate.

Besides, everyone knows aliens moved to Earth and are living amongst us due to the inadequate atmospheres on Mercury and Mars.

"This is false, as only one of the planets, Earth, has rings."
Actually, aliens on Mercury, Mars and Pluto have been known to carry rings. And Jupiter has that legendary Half-Ring. So there are four and a half ringed planets. 4.5 is half of nine! Resolution affirmed.

By not reading the title where "planetary rings" were specified.
