I believe Harry Potter is as much anti-Christian as a chair. These books have absolutely nothing in them that involves any religious or non-religious opinion.

I accept! I love the harry potter books and movies, but I think it has some things in it which undeniably go against christian teachings. This is not to say that J.K Rowling is anti-christian nor that she meant her books to be so. I have a lot of friends who aren't allowed to read them till there older thoguhg luckily I am even thoguh I'm catholic. I would like to add that while harry potter has some things in it which do go against christianity, it also has some things that support it very much.

I am on book 6 and have not found a word going either against or for Christianity, though I cannot say there isn't anything later on, but I am most definitely not expecting it, unless you are talking about Lord Voldemort having Lord before his name, it is just a phrase of authority, as kings were once called lords.

I've read almost all the books 3 times. Here are 3 reasons why harry potter might be considered anti-christian.
1. It (However slyly) supports unequality. Even the good characters like Mr. Weasly seem to regard non magical people (Muggles) as lower then themselves because of their inabilities. Mr. Weasly seems to regard them as strange animals.
2. The way witchcraft and wizardry is presented in the books makes it seem like a cheery little-kiddish sort of thing that everyone should want. However, socery and things like that should not be presented in a good way, since things like that come from the devil, and since he is evil.
3. (Since your still on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood I'm not sure if I should tell you this point as it happens in the last book. I'll tell it to you in the next round though if you'd like:)

I will be willing to play devils advocate as well, if you want to argue the Christian side

I'f love to debate about that, only problem is, I'd be being devil's advocate. I think Harry Potter is very much christian too. In fact I'm playing devil's advocate right now.

I'm reasonably certain Jehovah Witness children would be banned from reading Harry Potter books, as they might make them think.
Jehovah Witness children are banned from thinking for themselves.

I would love to debate either of you using the stance that HP is fairly strongly Christian in content. Message me if you're down and I'll challenge you.

Reasons for voting decision: I don't agree with Pro, though Con backed away from the competition and left me no choice but to vote Pro, as the only one having a good argument. Forfeiting also gave Pro a conduct point.
