Hey atheists, if God doesn't exist, can your 'science' explain this?

If God doesn't exist, then can an atheist explain this to me then?

Only God has enough power to create this.

Hello, fireguy. I look forward to a friendly exchange of ideas.

I'm unclear on what you'd like to debate. What is "this"? Do you mean the world or existence?

Maybe you'd be willing to pick one of the following re-phrasings of what I think you're trying to argue:

a) "The scientific method is unable to explain creation, therefore God must exist."
b) "God exists. Prove me wrong."
c) "The existence of God is sufficient to explain existence, whereas science has not provided an explanation."

* * *
It sounds like you may be proposing something like the cosmological argument: http://www.philosophyofreligion.info...

* * *
In the meantime, here are some responses to what I think you're getting at:

a) Claiming that God is an explanation for existence has problems:
1. You haven't demonstrated that a God exists, therefore it can't explain existence.
2. Perhaps something besides what one would call a god caused the universe to come to be.
3. What can you tell me about the nature of this god? Is it the Christian God? How do you know?

b) It's OK to say "I don't know." Assuming for the sake of argument that there is no scientific explanation for existence (I guess you'd say that the Big Bang theory isn't sufficient. I may or may not disagree) that doesn't mean there is only one other explanation and that that explanation is God. That is the Argument From Ignorance fallacy. _Please_ believe me that I didn't just call you ignorant -- that's just the name of the fallacy. https://en.wikipedia.org...

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
