Con

In this debate I and my opponent will debate the claim that homeopathy is a valid form of medicine. I would like that all non-trivial claims are backed up either by empirical evidence or logical reasoning. Stick to standard English grammar and spelling, but don't call anyone out on their spelling, as it would slow down the debate. Also, try to write responses like you might design a skirt: long enough to cover all the details, but short enough to keep you excited.
1st round: Definitions
2nd round: Opening statements
3rd - 5th rounds: Rebuttal

Some definitions:
Homeopathy: a form of "alternative medicine" whose proponents claim that diluting a substance increases its potency
Alternative medicine: any medicine that has not been approved by the medical community
A valid form of medicine: a medicine that is able to outperform a placebo in a double-blinded, peer-reviewed scientific study.

Cheers, SarcasticMethod

Homeopathy is NOT a valid form of medicine. It lacks scientific plausibility. And is no better than the placebo effect.

You evidently have not thought your response through. I initiated this debate on the CON side.

@kreakin: Well, no. I don't have to argue for a resolution I make. If I took PRO side on "Homeopathy ISN'T a valid form of medicine", the debate would be different because the BOP would shift.

Taking the Con side is a bit of a cop out..

Well, Valladarex, one can argue for something he does not believe in. It's a very good exercise in developing debate skills, because it is very difficult.

I doubt there is going to be enough people here that believe in homeopathy.

Oh man, I wish I were more familiar with homeopathy. I'd love to debate this with you, however I'm afraid I'm not qualified. :(
