I think homework is a big hassle is schools. Some students are so busy tending to their family or practicing for sports are too busy for homework. There are some kids who only fail solely because of this homework. I believe school work should stay at school.
Lee001

Pro

Homework is a very important necessity in schools. Homework helps build a child's mind and preparing them for test. If kids didn't have homework teachers would have to spend more time teaching, preparing them for tests.

Con

Children should be able to study in class, and get a break from the 8 hours of school they go through everyday
Lee001

Pro

The first benefit of homework is that it allows students and teachers to work more closely together. They can discuss their assignments or any problems that they are having with parts of their textbooks.
The 2nd Benefit of it to prepare for a big test. Doing homework also build up responsibility.

Closer together? Then explain to me why they do home work at home. This is the point of this debate. School work should stay at school where student and teacher can stay on the same page without the stress after school.

So you think kids should do homework at school on top of they're lessons? That would be doubled work! closer I mean as in teachers and children being able to work together to figure problems out.

If you didn't have homework, children wouldn't learn how to work independently without a teachers supervision, or how to learn in different environments. Further more a lot of children struggle with fulfilling work at school, because of the social dynamics and benefit from the comfortable environment, of their individual homes. Although I must agree, that at times a large amount of homework, can have negative impact, it is inevitable that homework is part of the educational system, to ensure a well rounded learning experience.

Reasons for voting decision: the arguments are insanely close together. Con puts out points for how students being busy, while pro suggests it a necessity to class, con pointing out the studying available in class, then pro rebutting back with the close studying between teacher and student--only to have con show the fallacy in that, and that within it school work must be separated from homework, but pro counters himself with "doubled work". Because the clash between hassle and requirement seems equal, but pro rebuts himself, con wins.

Reasons for voting decision: Heavily opinionated debate here and therefore it makes it harder to judge. Pro gets the argument points due to the fact that they presented two points that went non refuted by the end of the debate. Admittedly they were somewhat opinion based as well, however given that they were both uncontested and somewhat applied to real life situations causes Pro to win the argument points. Con failed to present any legitimate points and only gave an opinion about why Homework is bad, further strengthening Pro's case for the argument points. Pro, however, made several grammatical errors towards the end while Con did not, hence the S and G points to Con.
