The rainbow is a spectrum; it contains millions of wavelengths which could technically be named as individual colours. ROYGBIV is the generally accepted acronym for the 'seven' colours of the rainbow, but there are many alternative divisions and classifications that could be made, similar to Earth's continents have many different divisions.
