Technology and Electricity is slowly ruining the human race more and more. It not only has health effects like causing stress, radiation and much more, but it makes us isolated, reduces our social skills, effects sleeping habits, causes depression, pollution, bullying, severe amount of stress that was not present before technology came, lack of etiquette, lack of privacy, severe level of deceit, warped sense of reality, lack of social boundaries, constant distractions, physical pain, shortened attention span, addiction, lack of empathy, increased violence, higher energy consumption, development issues in CHILDREN, causes mental and emotional disturbances, even loss of hearing and eyesight! I could go on and on there is so much. It is ruining humans, we have been brought up to embrace technology and applaud and celebrate when it gets more and more developed. We have grown to be lazy, eat unhealthily, greedy, increased obesity, increased depression, increased anxiety, live stressful lives, live isolated. We have become dependant on technology. It rules our life, we cannot think of a life without it.

We are forced to (may be different in your country) spend 12 years of our life PREPARING to get a job, then another certain amount of years again LEARNING to have the job that we finally chose. Then what do we do after that? do we finally get to spend our life with our family, friends, to really live. Of course not. We then have to work UNTIL WE DIE. And what do we have to show for that? Hm? A nice house? Nice groceries? Buying a nice TV, being able to afford excersize equipment so we don't get diabetes or be unhealthy and DIE just from living a 'normal' life? Being able to afford to feed your family for the rest of your life? To afford to pay for your child's education so that they can follow in your steps and life life just like everybody else? So that they can lie on their deathbed when they are 80 and look back at their life and wonder where it went? How it went so fast? Look back on how they have nothing to show for it except that fact that they have been working all their lives so that they can live but finally realise that all that while, they never really did live.

You spend your whole life absorbed in technology that you don't pay attention to your family, you become isolated, you become.. average. You become just like everybody else, you keep telling yourself your different, because you are not as 'rich' as that person or your not as 'poor' as that person, you don't have 'facebook' like everybody else, or you have more 'followers' on Instagram than everyone else, your more 'popular', you eat 'healthier', you are a 'stricter' parent than they are. But really, your just that same as everybody else. Stuck in the game that keeps on going, that keeps getting harder and harder. You might want that really good job, but there will always be someone who wants it more, who is willing to give up more. So you decide your willing to give up more too. You think you have succeeded when you get that job, you feel as if you have won, you have achieved your goal. But you have just signed you contract with the devil and while you enjoy your temporary riches, you do not see your life being slipped from you. And you will be on your deathbed just as everyone was before you and as your child will and so will their children. And you will understand what that random person who wrote too much on a website was talking about, what they were trying to tell you, they were trying to warn you. They were trying to TELL you something, but YOU didnt listen! and now you have wasted your life.

You live 80 years. You spend those year working. Getting money. You pay off the amount of money you bought your house with in your life of working. While it takes less than a year, give or take, to build a house?

Ok Ok, Imagine, that you will, life before technology, before cars, computers, phones, ipads, washing machines, fridges, lights, Planes, Skyscrapers, Buildings, fast food. You just built a house. It didn't take long. You built it with the wood of a tree. There were many many trees. You lived in a small community. You built the house with your Wife/Husband and your brothers and sister. You built it with your family. It took a few months. You go hunting, and come back with a few rabbits and a deer 30 minutes later. You bring it to your village. Everybody comes and sits around the fire sharing the food. Everybody listens to the elder tell a story of wisdom. For lunch and breakfast the next day you simply walk up to a apple tree and pick a few you hand your children some and eat some yourself along with the strawberries that your village have been growing. The fresh air is amazing, everybody is happy and children are running around having fun. The adults are all laughing together, looking down with unconditional love at their children.

You live like that for 80 years. No need to work your whole life stuck in a office. No need desperately trying to be healthy because of the life you live, the illnesses you would get because the life you live is unnatural. No need for that gym. For that new diet plan. For the organic grocery section. No need for that electronic chair to drive you around because you suffer from obesity. No need for acne and unhealthy body or skin because of makeup and fast food. No need to look back on the life you didn't live. The time you didn't spend with your family. The time you didn't see your child as they were sent to school to learn to not live their life and have a good job and 'work' which is what we call it to avoid the fact that it is 'slavery' but nobody wants to think of it as that way.

I hate it. I hate it all. This is not right. We are destroying our world. Soon their will be no world in which to live. Because we have brown ignorant and are living a lazy unnatural life. We are not the people we once were. We are living shells of humanity that used to strive before we started becoming selfish, lazy, ignorant, deceitful, etc. We do what we can just so that we can stay healthy and so that we don't collapse and die one day because we are not supposed to live like this. This life is not healthy for us, for animals, for the environment, the earth in which we live on. We need to stop before its too late.

Technology and electricity can be seen as ruining the human race, but it can be seen as improving it as well. Never before has so much information been available to the general public. We are living in an age of knowledge only limited by ones efforts or willingness to reach it. With this knowledge we can relieve stress, depression, sleep problems and other ailments by having professions with more resources to treat it; for example, radiation can be used treat injuries with the invention of the gamma knife to prolong lives. Technology is a medium to voice your opinion as well, such as this website. It allows to connect you with friends and family spanning long distances. It allows you to know what is going around the world and work to contribute to others. It is a medium to share ideas, perspectives, and culture that drives the human race to be more aware of other people and also ourselves forging an identity.

Technology and electricity gives can be used properly or improperly. When new technology comes out, it is represented as a shock to the equilibrium of human society because we need to learn how to adjust or deal with it. This gives rise to unprecedented effects such as cyber bullyiing, privacy issues, etc. However, as we learn to adapt, we form social regulations to encourage and enforce people from abusing it. Such as not using technology when eating, talking with others, and so because it is disrespectful or not morally right. With the changing environment that we have around us, we will still have morals to make judgements to use or no to use, to see it as right or wrong.

We need techonology for it makes arduous or repetitive tasks quicker and easier to be more productive. What would take years can be done in seconds. Traveling would be so much more difficult without cars, airplanes, and trains. Without technology basic necessities would not be easily purchased or produced. What would it be like to not have a system to get rid of waste, technology to create food from the few to feed a nation, where could we store the food for a longer time to make it last? We can build a house, but we cannot build other applicances so easily. This efficiency ultimately allows people to have more free time, to imagine, to share, and to inspire. We all have a choice what we do in our free time and what we do is optional.

It may seem that there are so many problems, but the problems we see today are problems we always have had but did not have the technology to see it so frequently or at all. This is due to the media being as fast as ever with reporting information. We can know what happened in Nepal, what policies are being enacted in government, and any other opportunites or problems that are current. I will make the argument, that although we have absorbed more "bad" news, we have also revealed problems at the same time that we as a society can influence or solve. With technology we have become an international community, more interconnected than before. We have the United Nations, linked economies, and other measures and regulations to check and help each other. If we were not so interconnected like the days with less technology, nothing will stop other nations from viewing us as enemies and attacking us. We know each other more than before with technology. It is true we still have conflicts with other countries, but be can communicate and make resolutions that would never happen with speed without technology.

It is true with increasing techonology that it would require more training and learning, but life would be meaningless without challenges. If everything was easy there would be nothing to strive for. Life is more fulfilling by knowing more, because life would be stale if everything you ever knew was so provincial. Education opens up so many more opportunities and perspectives one would not be exposed to otherwise. It is worth the sacrifice because if you know what you love to do, when you work for it, it will test and confirm your love for it. You may have to work years to prepare for your job, but if you chose right, you will love that job everyday and it will not feel as if you are working. No one should decide what you love to do because that is your choice. This includes choosing a job that factors all of your interests like having enough free time to spend with your family.

Our quality of life depends on your our personal choices and perspective. This includes consumerism, healthy habits, and any many other problems you have listed. You have a choice to live your life as you choose. If not, there are so many interest groups, petitions, and protests that you can partake to have your voice heard and influence government. You do not have to spend your money on a television; you do not have to be lazy; you do not even have to view society the way you do right now. After struggling through different challenges in my life, financial, emotional, intellectual, and so on, I have come to the realization that I can only blame others so long before I realized what really needed to be changed was myself. You should not give up on yourself because you fail once, twice, or a hundred times, because if you truly want something you will improve to get closer to it. Acknowledge something is difficult, and face it anyways to improve yourself. You will fail many times, but without the right thinking and dedication, nothing in life can be accomplished. We can blame other and blame society, but ultimately it takes self discipline and self-reflection.

Stephknirb is probably one of the worst debaters on DDO. If he hates tech so much, why not go live in a animal reserve?I would have loved to take this up, but I sadly couldn't get here on time. I await for the next round.

Not sure if I should take up the challenge. I, in fact, greatly disagree with the clause that technology is bad for humans as you put it.
