For one thing, Harry Potter does not have many real world application in regards to its story because it is completely fantasy. There is no magic, no evil ruler, and no Hogwarts. Hunger Games could actually happens and serve as a way to teach people what could happen in the near future. It teaches about proper rebellion to better others' lives. It teaches that love is a struggle especially in Katniss's situation between macho and loving Gale and loyal Peeta and all that Katnis and Peeta have been through. Harry Potter does not teach those kinds of lessons but rather just tells an interesting story with none to few real world applications where as the Hunger Games can teach about love, sacrifice, a struggle to help people, and even a real possible evil future just to name a few.
No real world applications? You do realize no matter what setting or world all stories can connect to our own world through their characters and problems. We see our protagonist thrown into this world he doesn't know with all this pressure and he is unaware of what the future holds. I'm sure no one will be defeating three headed dogs and dragons any time soon but that's isn't the point it is that we connect with the characters and see ourselves in them. Take Hermione this young female character connected with so many other young girls as a smart and motivated character who's independent and became a great role model for other young girls. Hunger Games is in no way ground breaking and the characters are just so one dimensional with the bad guys just being bad guys unlike Harry potter where it gives it's bad characters deep back stories and even some humanity as well (Snape and Draco). This even goes with the good characters giving them all unique pasts and not being so perfect without a single flaw (Katniss).
Well as my opposition has forfeited this round I shall write just a small statement
Harry Potter has more heart and amazing stories than hunger games could ever dream of and I can promise you in 20 years we will remember Harry Potter and not The Hunger Games franchise.
