Performance enhancing drugs should NOT be legalized. Here are a few reasons why:

Yes, people already take drugs and a lot of it goes undetected. While it would almost certainly even it out, it doesn't make it fair. In fact, it would make it UNfairer. There will always be at the very minimum one person who won't take drugs. They don't want to damage their bodies and they want to win through personal achievement.

But the truth is they won't win. The people on the drugs would. They will feel like they HAVE to take the drugs to stand any chance of winning, even though they don't want to. They'll be pressured by those around them and their fans, who want them to win.

Poorer countries will always be at a disadvantage. Countries like America will always have the money and resources available to make these sort of drugs, and a lot of athletes could afford it. But in the much poorer countries, they might not even be able to create them, so bigger and richer countries will always have an edge.

It would no longer be a test of physical achievement. It will become a test of scientific intelligence. Scientists will compete for who can create the fastest, strongest drug and they will get credit for what the athletes have done, although it isn't them doing it, it's the drug in their bodies.

What pride do you feel in doing something by cheating? That's what it is and the honest answer is none. Athletes and other sports heroes won't feel like they're doing something, and they will always know it was caused by a drug which could in fact damage their bodies.

Also, they will have to remain taking drugs to keep such a high standard. They will become drug addicts. Many children are inspired by athletes, and they would want to take the drugs so they can be like them. Is THIS what you think the next generation should become? Drug addicts? (Talking generally there)
