I just ate a tomato.

I accept this debate and will refute my opponent's claims that he ate a tomato (?what is this debate?).
I shall begin by pointing out that my opponent makes the claim that he just ate a tomato but does not provide evidence or supporting sources.
Debate Round No. 1

Pro

I thank my Mr. Squirrel for accepting this debate.
I shall now present some evidence to support the claim that I ate a tomato.

1. Tomatoes are edible. Human beings can easily digest tomatoes and many human beings enjoy or at least are not disgusted by the taste, texture and smell of tomatoes.
2. Tomatoes are readily available, cheap and very popular in Ontario, Canada, where I reside.
Roughly 500,000 tonnes of Tomatoes are grown in Canada every year, and 48.1% of the $484 million that Canadians spend on plant foods every year is spent in Ontario.

3. Tomatoes are found in many food products that are regularly consumed by human beings, such as ketchup.

The three facts stated above prove that it is very likely that I being a normal Canadian, have consumed a tomato at some point in my lifetime. I would like to point out that this morning I added a tomato salsa to my scrambled eggs and thusly consumed a tomato.

My opponent has stated several true facts about the tomato, but these do nothing to prove my opponent has actually eaten a tomato at any point in his life. Perhaps my opponent is lying or mistaken. In addition, my opponent claimed in his first round "I just ate a tomato." This invalidates Pro's claim that it is likely he has eaten a tomato within his lifetime as not being the point of this debate (or perhaps Pro was not being clear). This calls into question the definition of 'just'. Considering the context, Dictionary.com defines 'just'

9.
within a brief preceding time; but a moment before: The sun just came out. (1)

This is a bit vague, so I encourage Pro to be more specific about the time frame in which this tomato was eaten or to admit to error and stick with his claim that he has eaten a tomato within the timeframe of his lifespan. I do not doubt that within his lifetime Pro has eaten a tomato, but the facts that Pro has presented only show that he COULD have eaten a tomato.

I look forward to round 3.

Pro

When I was a younger I had a nanny. The nanny used to spank me whenever I was a bad boy. She'd tell me, "You've been a very very bad boy." I think this form of discipline was very effective, and to some extent, I enjoyed it.
Lately I've been a very bad boy, but there is no one around to spank me.

(It's like having a debate with Cleverbot...)
Pro makes no attempt to argue his position so I extend all my arguments.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro stated that it was possible to eat tomatoes, but did not give evidence of how he just ate a tomato. Con refuted by giving the definition of just. Pro got off topic and Con extends his arguments.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro failed his burden of Proof. Con raised relavant points regarding Pros definition of 'just' which went unanswered. Given that we have no prior judgements on Pros character, we cannot know (with any amount of credible certainty) the he is not lying. Also, his admission in the last round that he has been a 'very bad boy lately and deserves spanking' might have been a confession to his lying tendencies. Given the limited evidence, I believe that Pro did not eat a tomato recently.
