Pro

I will contradict myself. CON, each round you must post ten questions. I will contradict myself in answering these questions. Whoever is my opponent........

I <3 your brand of toothpaste that you use. Actually....... I detest that brand. Wait....I don't know.
Danielle

Con

Alright, sure.

I really don't understand the point of asking 10 questions per round. In what round are we to actually debate your contradiction or lack thereof? In R3? Nevertheless, I'll start with these 10 until you give me further instructions (or clarify on them - because asking 10 in each round is pointless to negate the resolution). Good luck!

1. Do you like ice cream?
2. Do you like ice cream?
3. What's your favorite flavor?
4. Is 'cookie dough' the answer to question #3?
5. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
6. Is the answer to the above question '3 tablespoons?'
7. Do you like mangos?
8. Do you like mangos?
9. Capisci questa domanda?
10. Che cosa non si capisce a questo proposito?

The resolution of this debate is "I will contradict myself." To support that resolution, Pro promises to indeed contradict himself. In other words, the only way in which he can really win the debate is if his answers did NOT contradict. In giving contradicting answers, all he did was NOT contradict his very own resolution and thesis.

For example, we only need to look to the mango answers to prove my point (though there are other examples). He says that he has both tried and not tried a mango. Are those answers contradictory? Yep! But ultimately, because they're contradictory, then he did not in fact contradict himself at all (since he promised to contradict himself).

To clarify, if my thesis was "I will contradict myself" and then answered questions that did NOT contradict, I would have won the debate (because my answers were contradictory, meaning I upheld the resolution and did in fact contradict myself). However, Pro has done the opposite. He promised to contradict himself but indeed gave answers that were contradictory, thus not contradicting himself at all.

Furthermore, even if you believe this to be a "circular" thing whereas we'd both be right (which isn't the case - I'm actually right), then you should still vote CON. Why? Because Pro hasn't made a case for his side, whereas I have made a case for mine. Thus by debate standards it doesn't matter what is "right" or what you believe, but rather what the debater has made a case for.

For these two blatantly obvious reasons in addition to a loaded resolution to begin with, a vote for Con is the most appropriate.

Grammar - CON
Arguments - CON
Everything else - TIED

Really wanted to give it to Flamingo, but he didn't make any arguments...apparently didn't realize he wouldn't have the opportunity to make arguments while theLwerd did. That's his own fault though, so a reluctant CON vote.

I am not a "Mr. Flamingo". I do not have agender, because I am retarded and the evidence is covered in pink feathers. Be a bit more polite, and call me "it" instead of he or she or that ridiculas name "Mr. Flamingo. That was my dad.....he just refused to eat shrimp and died. Brings a tear to my eye each time I say it......T.T

IMO, theLwerd won this debate as her point about him not contradicting the resolution is pretty convincing.. Really, Flamingo could have at very least actually agreed to argue in the second round, but he didn't. Obviously, he set himself up for failure. Now I do think it was clear as to what mr. Flamingo meant, but he failed to contest theLwerd's points. You should never do that in what is agreed to be a DEBATE.

Conduct: Tied

S/G: Tied

Arguments: Pro - I have to agree with a couple of the posts below me; while I believe that Con had a very creative approach to the resolution, her admission of Pro having contradicted himself gave Pro the arguments. He did what he said he would do - he contradicted himself.

Agree with Nails here. His answers were contradictory, and his opponent agreed that they were contradictory.

Essentially, PRO could win no matter what he said.

I gave arguments to PRO. He didn't contradict the resolution. However, you do agree that he has contradicted himself in other ways.

Flamingo it would appear you just got checkmated at your own game =P.

But of course I'm not going to do it here in the comments section so if you'd like to go ahead and automatically vote for Pro without even reading my argument (mongoose and JK) then you go ahead and do that when the debate is over :)

Pro said I have to explain my argument in the 3rd round (which means he won't have a chance for rebuttal) but it's okay - I don't think one is really needed. Either I can negate the resolution or I can't (and I can).

Eh, PRO didn't answer what round the actual debate is to take place in.
